Re: The Wrestling thread
Not sure if this was posted yet, but strangely Hulk picks the guy who does media .
Re: The Wrestling thread
Undertaker got stretched out at the end of the match, storyline reason for his absence is he's too injured/finished which isn't too far from the real life one.
Still Taker/Triple H 3 at mania, I'll pass.
Re: The Wrestling thread
The "streak" Triple H was refering to was the fact for the fisrt time ever Undertaker had to be carried out on a stretcher.
I caught Kane's return and thought it was a new guy myself. Hard to tell.
Last night was the first time I watched wrestling in a long time. Man does it suck these days. Triple H in my mind really is the only guy in the Industry right now who can legitimately carry a story line. Maybe CM Punk but holy shit does everyone else come off as second rate.
Tried watching TNA the other night for the first time in like a year. That shit is awful. Mike Tenay(sp??) is a fucking terrible announcer. Michael Cole isn't much better.
Re: The Wrestling thread
Hairpiece, he weared it before the original unmasking.
Triple H may be past his best, but Kane hasn't had a good match since Angle was still in WWE imo.
Re: The Wrestling thread
He hasn't, but I still prefer Kane with the mask
It gave the character something else. Something different. A gimmick.
He should've never been unmasked. As soon as he did that, it was Diesel II all over again. Kane imo hasn't been Kane since the mask. But that still doesn't mean Kane-Klassic, makes a good wrestling match.
Re: The Wrestling thread
Kane with a mask is awesome. Just saw the new mask and I dig it. I always thought it was a mistake to unmask him. Agree wth Axlin.
The worst thing to ever happen to WWE announcing was the decision to turn Jerry Lawler into a face. That's like making Bobby Heenan a face. I think he brings down the telecast big time, imo. You need a real heel. Not Michael Cole.
Nice to see Road Dogg was back. They need to bring back a lot of the old guys, because the new talent just isn't cutting it. I wonder if that has to do with wrestlers today being basically manufactured by WWE. Most of them can't wrestle, and even more of them can't work the mich to save their lives. Even in the late 90's the majority of "superstars" had been around for a good ten years, working the indy circuits, developing their characters and shit. And it was always cool to see a guy jump from WCW to WWE, and back and forth. You don't have that anymore
Re: The Wrestling thread
Road Dogg works behind the scenes as a producer, don't think the TV time thing is lasting.
Disagree on the old guys, see TNA for ref. which is even worse. They need to bring back gimmicks and unify the titles, so winning actually means something. Then introduce new talent .
Lawler as heel was great back in the day, but Cole's "Universe" and "Twitter" is the major thing for me. Shows what Vince thinks is cool.
Re: The Wrestling thread
There are plenty of the new guys who can cut it, they just need to be given better booking, and they need their promos to be less scripted. Guys who spring to mind right now who could be a big deal if given an opportunity are:
Daniel Bryan - DUDE can probably wrestle better than anyone else on the roster and his mic skills are nothing special but good enough. With the right push he can get over and be a top star.
Cody Rhodes - Right now the guy just has 'it'. His gimmick is fantastic, and he has the in-ring and mic skills to boot. He WILL be a main eventer sooner rather than later.
Dolph Ziggler- Again fantastic in-ring, has had great matches with Orton, Cena, Edge, Punk, Bryan. And I'm not saying he was carried to good matches. He has carried other to good matches. His gimmick is strong, he's in the middle of a pretty big push, and his mic-skills in recent months have improved massively : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0HLOztZ9To
Wade Barret- Great mic skills who's push was botched horribly when they didn't put the belt on him during the Nexus angle. HELL if they were worried about having him Main Event WrestleMania, have him win the belt at Night of Champions/Survivor Series and have him hold it until Elimination Chamber. Then do the Punk angle in the runup to Mania with it being Punk Vs Barret over control of the Nexus. He's solid enough in ring, has the mic skills, comes across as a Bond villain and has all the makings to be a top heel in the company.
Also, agreed Lawler needs to do heel colour commentary and Cole needs to go away.
