I love all the songs so I could make an endless post, but I'll limit it to one song for now.  I loved "Street of Dreams" back when I first heard it in 2001 back when it was known as "The Blues".  I hadn't followed GNR too closely for a few years but I checked around for some new tunes as I had seen they played a few shows featuring new material.  Liked the song instantly and it still holds up to this day, 9 years later.  I like the different intro on the album track.  And as is the case with most of the ballads, you can hear the passion/pain in Axl's voice.

I'll never forget when I first heard the title track back in those days. Blew me away, and I realized he actually had the potential to hit a grand slam. Like most long time fans, I was extremely skeptical about his ability to do much without the 87-93 line ups. That mid 90s period sucked. Oh My God came out and I was not impressed. In fact, that's a damn good soundtrack and the song is its weak link. Camel Song by Korn destroys it. But when I heard that title track a couple years later, I was once again excited.

Say what you want about the insanity, but there's nothing like getting to hear a new GNR song, regardless of who is playing on it. Doesn't matter if the song is good or it sucks, just that feeling you have as you're just about to hear it for the first time is amazing. Felt that way in the UYI era, and felt that way during the CD leaks.

The chinese whispers opening the album kick ass, sets up the stuttering opening riff perfectly. Reminds me of the chills I got the very first time I watched the RIR3 gig and they opened in a familiar sense on WTTJ, that delayed hook before bursting into the song and the crowd erupting. Anything that reminds me of how awesome the Rio show was is always welcome in my book 9

Also love Tommys work on Riad, but who here doesn't? tongue

The last TWAT solo (obviously) is probably the highlight for me.  But I also really like a couple of the less traditional rocker songs, like If the World and Sorry.  Particularly Sorry it would be interesting to see him explore that genre of music a little more in some fashion at some point.

Some of the guitar work in Catcher has finally sucked me in too and I have played that one a fair bit.

If they ever chose another show opener should be CD.  When I saw them in 06.  They opened the encore with CD.  The video montage and all was pretty cool.  One of the highlights of the night as far as I'm concerned.

I obviously can't relate to what it was like in the UYI period. I remember getting into the band through radio and the greatest hits CD. Then coming on the forums and reading about the UYI albums, I'd heard of AFD before but these sounded more interesting. I wanted to hear Locomotive and Estranged and I wanted to hear what was so bad about this closing track My World. I went out and bought them and was captivated (and now looking back am embarrsed to say I initially liked Shotgun Blues and Get In The Ring). Shortly after all that we got the leaks and I think I definitely get that weird feeling excitement you mention. When the ones in 2006 came out it wasn't maybe as exciting as I was still new to GNR but when we got those tracks in 07 with the studio versions I was captivated. The best "Listening to new guns n roses songs" experience I've had was those 2008 Skwerl leaks. It wasn't just studio versions of tracks we'd heard live and it wasn't 2006 when I knew very little about the band. I'd become a diehard follower and getting to hear what may have been the golden track Prostitute (which for me didn't dissapoint) and what Rhiad was meant to sound like. It was great. The best part of getting new GNR song is the moment before you press play. Especially now with "Nu-GNR", you have absolutely no idea what to expect.

Don't feel bad for liking Shotgun Blues and or get in the ring.  While not their best tracks they are not half as bad as people make them out to be.  *lol*  Locomotive.  Another song I wish Axl would play if he ever tours again.

My world wasn't bad.  Actually think it could've been a cool long track if worked on.  Showed that the guys were ready to explore which made it cool.  Wouldn't have wanted a full album like that but was nice for one track.
