I don't think that just because it took the album a few years to take off, and some of those years were the 90s, that it doesn't deserve to continue in the competition. If it came out in the 80s and was a great album, then it's a great 80s album.
Pretty Hate Machine was ignored mostly until the Lollapalooza gigs and Broken, but it sounds like the 80s and is the highest selling album on an independent label ever, I'm pretty sure.
And while Nothing's Shocking is a pre-cursor to 90s alternative, it was even big enough to get sampled in the 80s by another album on the list - admittedly, its Pretty Hate Machine, but still. Just because the initial impact was minimal doesn't mean that the album doesn't belong in the 80s.

I see your point, but like I said, cultural relevance has to have some place in this. I nominated albums, I knew had no chance... or so I thought.
If NIN is in this, why don't we start looking at Nirvana as having a great 80's album, and praising Bleach.

Regardless of whether or not the aforementioned albums belong or not, I don't think they're good enough to make any noise in this eliminaion. So my vote isn't simply for Jane's Addiction because I don't view it as an 80's album, it's because I think it's deserving of the vote considering the competition.
