Re: Who's DJ?
His credibility was threatened when he said Axl fired Slash. No, Slash quit, per his own admission, and Axl tried for quite awhile to get him back, before he became a "cancer".
Two, Buckethead is in Robin's shadow... lmao. This is where he lost ALL credibility. Nobody is in Bucket's shadow on CD. In fact - Bucket makes CD, and even Ron's best solos in some places were originally written by Bucket. Robin adds absolutely nothing, and shockingly (yes, I was shocked by this, seeing how he was a 'lead guitarist' with the project from day one), Robin is suprisingly lost on the record, rarely coming up with anything significant past the song Better, for which he gets a writing credit. This I Love is the only other thing I can think of, and his solo being turned up over the great orchestra, seemed like Axl simply trying to find a way to let a band member shine, even though it should've been reversed, orchestra up front, solo in the back.
There's no reason to go on and on about Robin. If you want, I suggest going to the There Was A Time section for former employees, or visit a NIN board, his active band.
the "great orchestra" as you call it, is great. yeah. it's great. you know why? it's "filler." you know what else? without robin's epic solo all over it..TIL would be filler too. that's credible
Re: Who's DJ?
Robin single-handedly takes new Guns "November Rain" and rapes it with his really godawful guitar solo.
Now i've tried to be nice in past discussions, that turning up the orchestra, and backing it with the guitar solo, is something that works to please everyone, but frankly, the piece of shit solo should've either been redone by Bucket, or more likely, been removed altogether.
And I agree BLS, Bucket's solo on Sorry is great. TWAT too.
Re: Who's DJ?
I listend to the album for the first time in a long time tonight and honestly I think Robin's solo on This I Love is the best solo on the album and is one of the album's highlights. At the very least it has the most emotion of any solo on the album. I like it. In fact I would go as far as to say Robin's solo actually saves that song. It's not that great in my opinion untill Robin's solo kicks in.
On a side note 7 months after it's release I think Prostitute is by far the best song on the album
