Re: Who's DJ?
This is from MyGNR:Axl answers our questions - the whole thing in one thread

Now that you said that please tell us if Robin's out or not... because, otherwise, we'll be reading several 'Axl wants Bucket back and Robin/Bumble/Richard out' type of threads for the entire '09 year and these threads annoy us, the new lineup fans.
It really is what it is. No decisions have been made by either him, I or us that I'm aware of.
When we're touring or working in the studio or there's social things like a friend's dinner or party whatever we would hang. But as people get older they have their own lives. The Stones aren't going bowling every Tuesday etc.
Robin leads one of the most different lives I know of starting with the trapeze in his backyard to the tv in his closet. Robin's work on the next is done so there's not lots for him to do here except the elusive promo and he'd rather be on stage.
It's more about seeing where things are when Guns decides it's right for a tour and if we're able to make agreements we both are comfortable and can live with at that time.

I'm going to become the resident Ron fan. I don't think we have a hardcore Ron guy and he's always been cool in my book for the way he treats the fans and respects the old band. Plus it will be fun to go back and forth with the only looney Finck guy left on the planet.

To me his finest hour with the band is his playing on some of the CD songs, I thought he added some good stuff to them. Yet most of his public attention in GNR came from his live peformance of mostly older songs. So yeah - that kinda sucks for him.
We can't really speculate further as we don't know his actual motivation for leaving. Was trents offer just too good? Was there a secret Axl/Robin fight? Was he just sick of waiting? No idea.
The problem is you can't blame DJ for not being Robin - before he plays.
Just as one shouldn't have blamed Robin for not being slash - until he played. If Axl and Slash can't sort their shit out that isn't robin's fault. And if Robin and Axl can't work out a deal to get him back then that's not DJ's fault.
I was open to giving Robin a chance...i just didn't like that he replaced Slash once i heard his rearrangment of the parts. Likewise I'm open to giving DJ a shot....if he gets up there and plays the Slash/Robin parts in a way I think is disrespectful or worse than the records then I'll be the first to say he sucks.
But right now...all we know is that he's a competent guitarist with an interesting history of la rock stuff, which makes me look forward to giving him his shot to impress me!
i speculate there was a fight between robin and axl about when the album coming out. robin wanted it out in 2006. axl wanting continuing perfecting it. that was the end of robin. the shaft. thanks, axl
Yes, THANK YOU AXL!!!!!!!!!!!

I've personally thought for the last few years that sticking Ron in Robin's role, and bringing Bucket back would be a definitive new era lineup on lead guitar.

Re: Who's DJ?
bumble says what axl tells him to, which makes him a tool
No bumble just doesn't say things he thinks will upset Axl, which makes sence given Axl is not only his boss but also his friend.
Bumble is a kickass guitarist, it's a shame more people online don't recgonise this.
Axiln08 - Bumble/Bucket would be amazing but then it could get way to alternative way too fast for me - as they'e both "outside the box" players. I think DJ and Bumble is going to be classic rock but with a bit of guitar insanity - which is what i'm up for!
