Re: New Bumblefoot Interview In Polish Rock Magazine
He does good interviews. Didn't really reveal anything about the future, but that's par for this course.
I need to hear this acoustic album. I'll check the torrents.
His playing on CD gets a bad rap because of the terrible mix. His parts aren't really bad, it just sounds abrasive on the songs, CD and Shackler the exceptions.
Still not buying the "its a band" thing. Tommy even admitted its the Axl Rose show, and I believe it. I don't have anything against it. I've always thought Axl should market it like NIN. I just don't like being led on that its not when there's plenty of evidence that it is.
Interesting that he says he didn't want copies of CD. Axl got a lot of shit for that in 2006 when Ron was having to just listen to the songs on a comp so he could learn them in rehearsals. He should have said this back then.
Re: New Bumblefoot Interview In Polish Rock Magazine
I do think these guys have a lot more pull with Axl about the music than NIN, or anyone associated with that band has with Trent. That's why I can say its a band.
The business aspect, the final word, and all that. It's definitely the Axl Rose show.
Re: New Bumblefoot Interview In Polish Rock Magazine
I wish Axl would just start fresh. Get the gang together, let this new lineup with DJ be a totally fresh start, and record an album, and tour on it.
Let the Chinese Democracy era simply become a footnote, with the curse it's been, and maybe one day release the cutting room floor demos that never were in a big box set, so Bucket fans can hear his raw work.
You know, that's a very good point. Just bag all the other songs, The General, Oklahoma, Atlas Shrugged etc. It sucks it's not Robin & BH to do this, but just do it. Sit all summer & everyone write, regroup around Labor Day with everyone bringing their songs to the table, record into October. Then mix, master tweak etc, and next Spring release a new album & tour next summer. Then, Christmas 2010 release the CD era Box set, with all the unheard stuff.
Those two combined will also recoup alot of money for UMG, AND probably relieve them of their contract. A new cd, then a 3 or 4 disc box set (with about 80 songs & demos) priced at $40. I'd definitely buy it.. Even if it only sells 100,000 copies, that's $4 million. Not bad.
Re: New Bumblefoot Interview In Polish Rock Magazine
No no no.
Don't drop this Chinese thing. I'm there for exactly the CD stuff. I want it. I want all of it. I want the Bucket songs 01-04...release that first. Then do whatever they wanna do, but I want to hear that. It's like a big void in GNR world and to just drop the entire thing and start fresh will simply make me go insane.
Re: New Bumblefoot Interview In Polish Rock Magazine
Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal wrote:If I take part in recording another Gn'R album I will compose anyway.
I noticed this part the most. If there's a second album in play, it's just stock studio tracks from Bucket's day.
So that now kills a second album on the way.
No tour
No more studio material
No reunionG n' F' n' R's 2009!
Its been translated to Polish and then back to english don't take it literaly thats most definitely not what he said
Re: New Bumblefoot Interview In Polish Rock Magazine
A good idea would be to unload the CD sessions in a 2 cd set around the holidays. Then just move forward. He said he envisioned it as a double album. Then do it instead of the usual talk, no action. Unload the double with a few extras. Like pasnow said, Axl could quickly get himself out from under the Uni deal if he's so displeased with the label.

Yeah, agreed. Why would they have to drop the songs? That makes no sense. It isn't stopping them from writing new shit with the new guys.
Re: New Bumblefoot Interview In Polish Rock Magazine
Because the biggest issue with CD is the fact the entire album is dated. That was a major contributor to it's flop. As long as Axl keeps trying to rework 5-10 year old tracks, this will remain a problem.
By starting fresh, they wipe the slate clean, and have a fresh start.
Re: New Bumblefoot Interview In Polish Rock Magazine
" Generally I really like my rythm parts, for me they're the most important think I recorded, they changed a lot. After those parts songs became more rock n' roll than industrial. "
I wonder how accurate that translation is, it doesnt seem to match what I'm hearing on the record. Meaning I dont really think any of the songs would have an industrial sound without his additions.
