Re: Mixing "Guns N' Roses" LIve With Waves
As long as you bring plenty of drugs.....
a few pints of Ben & Jerry's wouldn't hurt either....
Seriously though, if they play Frisco, the Evo members in this region(me, Brokenglassncigs, you, Rex, and any lurkers here) should definitely meet up before the show.
I was thinking of buying the Vermonster if that works. I think that equates to like a gallon or two of ice cream.
It's weighs anywhere from 4 to 9 pounds and contains the following:
* Twenty scoops of ice cream
* 4 ladles hot fudge
* Whipped cream
* 3 cookies
* A choice of 4 toppings

Re: Mixing "Guns N' Roses" LIve With Waves
do we know how old that vid is? he said rehersals for another month or so
anyway i cant wait for somethign to actually happen thatll bea good day
According to http://www.chinese-democracy.blogspot.com/
I just received word that Guns will be in rehearsals for another month, and expect to be finishing up toward the end of May.
Believe it or not, drummers Frank Ferrer and Brain Mantia are both there.
"Sweet Child o' Mine" sounds absolutely killer with DJ Ashba playing the Slash/Robin parts!
They're also rehearsing "Sorry" and "Prostitute."

Re: Mixing "Guns N' Roses" LIve With Waves
Thanks for posting atari...great find....
Regarding the drum set up's my guess will be whomever plays the most songs will get his set up installed, and the other guy will have to "suck it up" a little and work with what's there. Although there's some posibility to add some stuff in the solo spots I doubt they'd mess around too much as it would lead to sound-check problems. Or maybe they'll go with a combination....like if one of the songs has a specific need for that drum then use that part of the kit as one players...but the rest as the other guys. I dobut it will be much of an issue...while I'm sure they have their custom set ups they prefer...i'd say guys at that level would be able to play on anything to a good standard.
As for the solos. I'm with neemo I think this video is "too early to call" - it's a rehersal, we don't know at what stage of rehersing, there's only short grabs of the solo, with some instruments missing. I just hope whoever learns the solo learns it from AFD not from the robin afd remake
I thought overall the verse guitar and stuff sounded pretty cool, all the little fills and stuff, and some of the lead playing had nice tone, so i'll reserve judgment till I see if they nail the melodies or not.
Pretty exciting...so there's still a month or so of rehersals planned at least then I guess we can gather from this vid.

Re: Mixing "Guns N' Roses" LIve With Waves
I posted awhile back on another GN'R site that i won't name how cool it would be if both drummers played and got nothing but backlashed for even contemplating the idea but all you guys n gals seem cool with it which is nice. Thing is i did'nt get why people were so against it. Is it something i don't know. the answers i got were mostly negative about Frank.

Re: Mixing "Guns N' Roses" LIve With Waves
Yeah I dunno what the problem with it is anyway. I guess people see it as overkill having two drummers, but it's no worse to me than 3 guitars and 2 keyboards..lol...this band works like a giant orchestra now...and while its unorthodox...it sounds pretty good.
I think it's a good solution. Brain can do the CD stuff that's got his signatures on it...and frank rocks out hard on the older stuff. I like frank...i saw him live in 07 and he gave the old songs a lot of the traditional rock kinda feel that they'd been lacking in recent times. He's a good fit.
As the risk of getting more and more fan boy, I think Frank, Ron, and DJ has the potential to sound VERY cool. I'm excited.

Re: Mixing "Guns N' Roses" LIve With Waves
The more band members i get to see at a gig the better as far as im concerned. Bring it on.
Re: Mixing "Guns N' Roses" LIve With Waves
I agree. It's more complete. Because if you finally do the official CD world tour, without Brain with Frank, you have complainers, with Frank without Brain, complainers.
I like them both, so this is a good move. Although for the next album, and/or future, I think they need to make Frank the official full-time drummer.
