Pretty diverse and interesting reponses. Like I said, my intent wasnt to stir controversy, and judging by the "O, it's just another new vs old thread, I'm assuming my sentiments have been re-iterated hundreds if not thousands of times before by others.

Considering the money involved and the time invested, I think it would be difficult to argue that this thing was anything but a disappointment. I have satellite radio in my car and I hardly ever hear any of the new songs played. The few times that I had, they were typically followed by a Dj's comments about how bad these songs are. Shortly after buying the album, I had a poker night at my house and had some friends (old chool GNR fans) over. I played the album and they were like "WTF IS THIS SHIT"?! They couldnt believe when I told them it was Axl's new GNR. What's that one song, 'This I Love'?? My buds had a field day with that lame ass track. Honestly, it all sounded like shit to most of us.

The live show I saw in 06/07 was just as damn bad as the album. I couldnt believe Axl's guitar player was playing a Christina Aguillera song. Axl ran backstage about 10 times throughout the show (I'm assuming to get oxygen). It was just a mess. Slash, Duff, and Izzy made that band's sound. Axl's vocals are trademark, but without those other guys, it was just sad. Unless I got to go for free, I'll never see another new wave guns show unless it's a reunited GNR - but that doesn't look likely.

I could really care less about who's in the band. I'm the biggest Bucket fan around here, and I don't throw out those "buts" you mention. For me, it's about the music. If the music was shit, I wouldn't be here.

By your analogy, I should be a big Velvet Revovlver fan because Duff and Slash are there. I'm not. Why? The music is lame, derivative and totally uninspired to my ears. I like Izzy's solo stuff because he writes incredible songs and melodies. Who plays with him? I have no fucking clue. Who was in the Ju Ju Hounds? No fucking clue.

So, no, it's not about being fans of every single member but the sum of its parts.

You may not anymore, but you have in the past.  It took you awhile to come to grips with no BH being in the band and alot of his parts being re-recorded.  There are exceptions to every rule, maybe now you're one of them.  Or maybe you just claim to be, I don't know you so I can't say for sure.

I love Slash and I don't listen to Snakepit at all and VR very little.  I like some of Izzy's stuff and can tolorate Duff's solo stuff (though his singing is awful).  I agree it's all about the music.  It's also about what sounds good to you, not what sounds good to everybody.

This goes for everybody: I don't care if you love CD - I'm happy for you.  Just don't go around trying to tell people that everybody here loves it or the new band because you can't get much further from the truth.

Just something to pinder for the couple people that seem to think everybody is completely on board with the new band.

There's a lot of buts about AFD, UYI. Where have you been while those albums have been discussed the 450 million times on GNR message boards? From the use of cowbell to lame lyrics.

LOL - 2 examples?  Good one.  Way to prove me wrong.

Maybe I wasn't clear.  The only people blasting AFD and UYI are doing so when forced to seek a weakness or fault.  Can you say the same about CD?  No.  The faults are so obvious from the second you look at the booklet before you even put the album on.

Maybe I wasn't clear... I said from the use of cowbell to lame lyrics, meaning also things in-between.

Maybe you forget but there was a lot that was lame about GNR during their "glory days."

Actually, I will admit I don't understand why Frank is in the band. If Brain is, then Frank isn't needed.

By the same token, I don't understand why Duff and Slash continue to let Matt ride their coattails. He's such a douche and you can get about a thousand guys off the Strip that can drum just as well as he does.

Again, who is saying that? You're the one saying that people don't really love the band or CD, but if they do, there's always a but.... Which goes to the point that we all have those feelings about albums we love, not just CD.

Horns on tour, teddy zig zag - I haven't forgotten.  But people put on AFD to this day and say "that's the perfect album" even with it's flaws.  Nobody with any musical knowledge AND an unbiased opinion is saying that about CD.  I'm not saying I'm not biased against it (I am), but that doesn't mean there isn't truth in what I'm saying it - it just explains WHY I'm saying it.

But I'm not, and have never compared CD to AFD. You can't. AFD meant much more than almost any other album that was released in its decade. The only one close to having that impact was Nevermind.

AFD is in the top ranks of greatest albums of all time.

Its unfair to compare any GNR album to it, because its a once in a lifetime release or occurence. But it doesn't diminish anything regarding CD (to me anyway) that it didn't have the same impact as AFD...

I am not comparing albums. I think CD is 'almost' great (me, I'm saying it) and it has nothing to do with the old band, or their music.

I think being "a joke" might be a bit harsh, but overall I'm with the OP. Or at least pretty close. IMHO it's DEFINITELY a solo album. There is very little chemistry I hear on this record. It's Axl telling various studio musicians, "Ok, do a solo here.. no no, not that solo, a different one. Hmmm, no, faster.. ok that, let's take that & record it". Then he chose from about 20-30 different takes & solo's & inserted via Pro Tools which one & where. I could go into more detail & examples but I think you all understand me, some may not agree with me, but hopefully you know what I'm saying. The band itself is just a random acquisition of talent.

The more time goes on, the less I like it. It's ok, but certainly far from great. It's not even 13 years good. It should be a 'greatest hits' worthy album by now. It isn't.

The lack of chemistry was really noticeable at the show I attended. It seemed really scripted, but off the mark almost the entire show. Long story short, it looked like a group of guys paid to do a job. Nothing spontaneous or memorable.

I haven't listened to the new album in months. For me, it's not even the type of album you listen to when in a specific mood. Hell, I still find myself listening to AFD, Lies, and UYIs on a monthly basis - and those albums have been in my collection for nearly 2 decades.

What got me thinking about Guns again in the past couple weeks was Axl's "Slash is cancer, better removed" comments. I'd be lying if I were to say that didn't depress the shit out of me. I was hoping after this epic bomb of an album, he would have went back to where the real magic was. I am happy that he Axl at least warned us that future albums would be more of the same. Gives me a heads up to never drop another dime on one of his should-be-abortions.

Of course you wouldn't.

Look at the poll for instance. Do the majority of people want to know about the future of GNR (this band) or hear Axl talk about Slash?

I don't think the vast majority of people would be here if it weren't for liking this band.

Slash is Gone puf! in the air is like be sad because Jim Morrison is not in The Doors and that is have no respect for the others musicians in the band the Guns N' Roses name turn you insane what you want Guns N' Fuckin Roses? thats it c'mmon go and cry to mum that daddy is gone Guns N' Roses is still going without slash like it or not just live with it

Huh?  No hablo whatever the hell you tried to say.

As for the other posts, poll the full membership and you'll get a much different response than the "active" membership.  The lack of success of the album tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about what people (in general) think of the new band and their "direction" - I don't need to create a poll, it's already been done and overwhelming response has been "no thanks".

Why do you suppose that posting in the GnR section is down unless it comes to some sort of an old vs new thread or Axl bashing Slash out of the blue?  The evidence is right there in front of you.  Even the active members don't care regardless of what they might claim in a poll.

bueno listo, ya esta ya me volvieron loco con lo del ingles no no soy estadounidense entonces me cuesta un poco dejen me vivir
