Saikin, you are right about those songs. Magnificent and Moment are the epitome of perfect songwriting as far as I'm concerned.

Bono, I see you don't like the chorus delivery on Unknown Caller either. I can hardly listen to it.

Yeah man the album grew on me alot in just over a day. I really like it now but Unknown Caller is the shits. It had potential to be a decent almost filler type song but when they break into that chorus chanting bullshit I hate it imediately.  It reminds me of something but I can't pinpoint it. David Bowie or something but it just fucking sucks. Not sure what they were thinking. Ruins the entire song and is definately the worst song by U2 in a  long time I think.  Maybe ever. It's just...... I don't know. GAY. 14

I'm gonna give it a few more days then do a  full review of the album.

It amazes me that people call this kind of stuff selling out. And amazes me mroe how many times I've read Axl nutswingers(on other sites) say hwo glad they are Axl woudln't "stoop to this level"  The more  I see how these guys are promoing their album the more it kinda bugs me hwo badly Axl has failed in that regard. Shit this isn't even album promo. This is just band promo period. Shows they're real guys and not stuck up their own ass. I love it.

This is funny shit.

Looks like solid sales numbers for the current climate, but still far below what they'd do in a booming economy.  Not shocking of course, just shows you how bad things are these days.  I realize things are even worse now than in November but we'll see if they can match Kanye West's 450K mark.  Again, this isn't meant to be a knock at U2, just outlining how shitty the times are.

U2 Cool For School
by Paul Cashmere - March 7 2009

U2 went to school this week, rocking Fordham University in New York.

The Irish band had a week long promo blitz on New York this week, including a 5 night stint on the David Letterman show.

Yesterday (March 6, 2009) the band went back to school to play at the uni.

"I'm so excited to be here," U2 drummer Larry Mullen told the crowd. "But I'm so pleased for my dad because he's gonna see this sometime soon, and he's gonna say, 'My son Larry finally made it to college.'"

U2 played a six song set for the uni.

They played:

Get On Your Boots
Magnificent
I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight
Beautiful Day
Breathe
Vertigo

The album No Line On The Horizon was released this week.

It will debut at number one in Australia on Sunday’s chart and in the US is also expected to top the chart with sales over 400,000.

Those are damn good numbers right now, and this album probably wont see a big decrease in 2nd week sales. It'll be platinum here in less than two weeks. Also, U2 gives their albums a massive push. This is just the beginning. Its why every album in their discography sold millions of copies. They just keep pushing their new material and they don't relent.

Look at the setlists during this initial promo blitz. Its insane. They've played half the album live already. The casuals and hardcores eat this stuff up. They are about to embark on a stadium tour that will go into 2010 when the follow up to No Line will already be in stores.

This will be the biggest selling album of 2009.

The album is number 1 AND 2 on the Itunes chart. Insanity. People are buying both in droves. Magnificent is actually charting on the Itunes single chart , and Magnificent isn't even a single yet. This promo blitz of performing key tracks from the album is really paying off.

This is how things go with legendary bands that don't live in the past, if you catch my drift.

Their only mistake was releasing Get On Your Boots as the first single. Its not even charting, but since they give fans a smorgasbord of songs to hear at the same time, the decision wont hurt them like it would if it was another band.

For some bizarre reason, Heart's song 'Alone' is actually number 100 on the singles charts, and its an 80s track from their hits album. I'm gonna assume that is on a soundtrack or tv show or something.
