That doesn't mean they can't just tour on the back catalog. Axl's been doing that anyway since 2001. At least this time, you'd actually have the men that were involved in the original production.

I've never understood the anti-reunion logic in, "well Axl doesn't want to record with them". Umm, so fucking what? Axl just released his first album since TSI in '93! He obviously isn't in any kind of hurry with studio material. He also could just release his work as studio work, and most of the ballads on CD, are Illusion ballads. Most likely, you throw some redone guitars, bass & drums on them, and you've got at least two full albums worth of 'old GNR' material.

All they've got to come up with is some rockers. Let Slash & Izzy go, throw a punk song on their by Duff, and bam, you've got a couple new classic-GN'R albums, and Axl didn't have to lift a finger, other than signing on the dotted line. The vocals are already done.

dude in all honesty you dont know what youre talking about 16

a reunion will never happen until these guys put the bad shit behind them...based on the animosity toward Slash from Beta and Del all ya gotta do is read between the lines

Look back at Slash's frustrations with GnR at teh time he left....from a recording standpoint that shit carried on throughout the entire recording process of CD!! look at them being at odds with gilby and tobias, look at the way both approach writing albums, look at Slash's recent dumping of weiland in VR for not being reliable while on tour....i'm tellin ya that from my standpoint i see absolutely no reason to expect a reunion at this time,....and on top of that Axl jsut released his album which doesnt resesmble orig gnr in any shape or form....

its not so easy as just having slash, duff and izzy record some shit with existing vocals..i cant beleive you even suggested that after knowing the history of axl's recording style

maybe the most recent animosity coming from beta and del is the result of feeling betrayed by axl for, in fact, agreeing to reunite and go back to the guys that once left him lying in the gutter, dying in the ditch.......:slash:

Axl is just as much to blame just as much as the other guys for the old band breaking up.

I don't think it's any bash on the new band. Really, I don't. They're great.

But the fact is the ship HAS SAILED. Axl waited too long and the iron cooled. The time to strike was 2001-02. He blew it. He had a slight... shot in 2006, which was his last good will, and he butched that one six ways to sunset.

With Axl doing NO promotion for this album, NO video... Bucket & Robin are long gone, no tour dates.... seriously, who can say "this new band is the future" with a straight face?

It's done baby. It is dead, dead, dead.

I'm sure i'll look like the fool, but i'll be stunned if any tour dates are announced for the new band.

And some people actually think the tour is going to kick off Summer 2009...

What the fuck?

You don't kick off an album-supporting tour, a half year later after it's released! "Oh, but wait Axlin08, you don't understand. That's when the re-release is coming with the second disc!"

Oh okay, i've got it all wrong then. GN'R are going to wait, let the initial album bomb, then turn around and tour to support the re-release.

AND I'M CRAZY?

Wake up people. Time to dust off the top hat, and pull down the unopened 15 year old bottle of Jack. That's a FAR more realistic prospect imo at this time, then the new band, waiting a fucking year to tour on an album, and releasing videos 3 fucking months after the album came out.

The new band will tour. Axl won't talk. And there will be no reunion.

And stop trying to think logically about this situation.

They will tour, if they were happy to milk Appetite yet again in 06/07 then they will milk this album to bring in some income.

Theres a couple of problems I forsee though. Axl was fired up and ready to rock before the 06 tour, he seemed happier and more comfortable than ever in public. It was a great tour and they seemed like one big happy family.

This time there are already murmers about his desire to push this, there is already fragments in the camp, the album has not been as well recieved as they would have hoped. I think the overwelming reaction on the boards is that it is a good album, not a masterpiece. I think they would have hoped for the boards to be overwelmed with new members and all hailing this as the greatest thing ever, that hasnt happened. That doesnt bode well for the album being a runaway success. I think it could be if they push it in the right way. Streeming the album was an odd choice, especially as most of the songs are "growers" even to the most diehard fan. I wondered at the time if it was wise, but time will tell I guess.

The big problem for me is that if Axl is not 100% focused and fit to tour, it will not be long until the wheels come off, if they do go on the road. People will not tolerate no shows, with no suitable warnings.

I said it before in another thread, in this interview Andy Gould definently side-steps the question about working with Axl, and gives an indirect answer.
