Yeah but not for those reasons soley in my opinion. I'm guessing he wasn't completely happy with the material or the final mix. My guess is he just wasn't ready or confident enough with it for it to come out yet.  But I'm sure there' are tons of reasons.

I'm not sure why the silence though. Maybe he thinks it's interesting to see what it does just on it's own.
