Re: U2 "Reinvent Rock" on New Album
Do you know anything about that guitar effect/device the Edge is talking about?
That's one thing I love about Bucket. He is always trying new pieces of equipment and effects and styles.
I do not Bigbri. I'm very illiterate when it comes to guitar tech stuff. I do know that The Edge's set up is fucking crazy. Before they launched the Vertigo tour they did some all access thing for VH1 and he explained his setup. Crazy, crazy stuff. That's what I love about The Edge too. He's always looking for ways to make the guitar sound new. Kinda got away from that on the last two albums though but I'm hopefull he contracted that experiemental itch again for this album

Fuuny quote from that Edge article:
With "Unknown Caller" the sound of Fez is there because we were recording in this riad [town house].
Thought that was amusing. Looking forward to this new album, I'm not a huge U2 fan but the new experimentation seems interesting.
For all you guitar nerds this is the effect peddle Edge was talking about:

...anyway i dont think u2 has ever "rocked" ....but they came close about 28 years ago
Nah dude they can rock. You don't gotta go back 28 years. I guess it depends on your definition of rockin' though. I dont' really expect anyone to watch any of these. Just putting it out there

Thanks man. That sounds like you could get some really cool sounds from it. I hope the Edge pushes that thing to its limits.

You don't happen to have a boot of the Elevation tour's Chicago show, do you? I forget what year that even was. I was there, my first U2 show. I think it was the first time (tour, that is) they used the heart-shaped stage.
Re: U2 "Reinvent Rock" on New Album
50 year old men do not reinvent anything, nor does anyone expect them to.
I predict this to be U2's second "Pop" and another end of hegemony. The album will probably be good by the fans standard, but trying to do something new at that point in your career hasn't gone too well traditionally.
Either way, talk about setting your album up for failure. How about just saying "I think it will be good"?

C'mon Polluxlm. This is nothing compare t the way Bono was going on and on about HTDAAB. If anything that was "setting your album up for failure". And gee that album sold what? 12 million copies? Not such a bad failure. I'm sure U2 will be just fine. Plus Since when has any band simply said "I think it'll be good". I think if we wanna talk about setting yourself up for failure we have no further to look than this board and the band it supports.
Nah Bigbri I don't. Sorry man. I never had that show. I used to have alot form that tour but my fucking computer crashed and bunred. Lost it all.
