More Of a Joke since in the video that has patton saying they sound dated he goes on to say he's fixing to start work on 60s style Italian pop(or something like that).
Just seemed really hypocritical to me. Patton is amazing but concieted IMO.And although it does sound 70s ish. I love the Wolfmother album.

Rage Against the Machine I do agree with - albums tend to sound dated when they use synths and computers and technology of the time.
Been saying this for years. I can name only two exception. Both Reznor and Tori Amos used electronica on their albums, yet The Downward Spiral and From The Choirgirl Hotel doesn't sound dated, they could have come out yesterday. Timeless music 
I agree wtih the Motley Crue-praise: the self-titled is their best album, it's a shame they fired Corabi for Vince.
Back to CC's observation. The simple,natural, not overproduced albums where the music is based on the 'ancient' instruments (clear or bluesy guitar tone, bass, piano, drum, violin) seem to be more in the cathegory of 'timeless'. I think that Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' No More Shall We Part is a record for decades.
