I'm not the "thought police". It isn't my duty to tell you what you can say and think. While you may be used to that in other places, that's not how this site operates. His Palin remark while a bit disrespectful, is no different than other anti Palin remarks I see on many political sites.

This is your website. I'm not really interested in having a long discussion about how you should run it (especially a few days after the fact). I just felt that the "Look at me!" tone of the post in question came off like a terrible case of micropenis overcompensation, and didn't want to let it pass without pointing out just how tasteless, ignorant, and white trash it was.

Since you mentioned it though, I'm surprised that you considered it just another "bit disrespectful anti-Palin remark". I couldn't care less about Palin, and would have felt the same if anyone had been mentioned in her place. Truth be told, I feel kind of badly for you. I've only spoken to you one on one a few times, but you've been as friendly as anyone that I've met in the GNR community. Still, you push this place as the "one GNR forum built on free-thinking, class, and integrity", and the inconsistencies are always going to shine through. At least with "other places", there's a clear line that everyone should be able to understand, and even though not everyone agrees with that line (myself included), it makes sense within the context of the kind of site that they're trying to run. That kind of consistency is one thing that every administrator should shoot for, and, speaking only for myself, I'd rather read a thousand instances of someone calling me an "asshole", questioning my "noob" status, or mentioning an old Guns N' Roses song in a new Guns N' Roses thread than the kind of free-thinking, class, and integrity that I read earlier.

But I guess that's why I'm not the one that makes the tough decisions. I'm sure it's difficult being such a message board maverick. smile
