16 I'm confident in saying NOBODY predicted this. the Cardinals are the shocker.  The Eagles though I'm not surprised one bit. Picked them to beat teh Giants. Giants had a great season but it basically mirrord the Cowbosy season last year. There was no way they were gonna be abel to flip the switch after a bye weeka nd beata  hot team like Philadelphia.

The best would be the Cardinals(9-7) vs Chargers(8-8) for the Super Bowl. Now that would be fucked 14

Well, congrats to PASnow. The Giants were brutal all around in this one. Bad QB play, our kicker who was money all year decides to choke, bad bad playcalling, our WRs scare no one. We'll have to address that position in the offseason since Plax isnt likely to come back, Toomer is done. Man its gonna be a long offseason.

What a chokejob by the Giants. Now hopefully Sproles can kick some ass today. So far, so good. Pittsburgh is scared shitless of him and falling for the play action every time. LOL.

Great game, yeah the Eagles are on FIRE!! Their defense is pretty damn good.

Giants played bad, and I know he's great with challenges, but Coughlin should have never challenged the spot on that 3rd down. No camera view showed anything, so I don't know who told him to do it.  Plax is a mess, never could somebody do something more boneheaded than that?  How do you shoot yourself in the leg.

Bono AZ & PHI combined records (18-13-1) is the lowest ever in a Conference Championship game. Weird to think it could be AZ/SD or PHI/PITT regional matchups. AZ will be a tough game, Fitzgerald was playing great last night. We'll see. Speaking of which, Asante Samuel is something else. He really turns it up in the playoffs with 2 INTs already. He leads the NFL with 4 returned for TD in the playoffs & he's only about 26(Not sure if he's tied or not, I think it's his own).

Agreed 110%. That was desperation. He is usually the best when it comes to that type of thing. Seeing it live I knew it was short, but then I thought maybe he sees something. Of course, he was short and it was a wasted challenge.

Its a punch in the gut, but I know we'll get everything worked out in the offeseason. We have 11 picks, plus we get Osi back. We'll be fine. It was just bound to catch up with us, the lack of pass rush, loss of our impact WR. And by the way, I dont think their was a distraction that hurt us, but we definatly missed his presence. No denying that.

Chargers D looks pathetic. LOL. Pittsburgh vs. Baltimore should be a good game next week. How crazy would it be if two Pennsylvania teams make the Super Bowl?

Ugly. 1-3 this week for me.

I'm starting to feel a bit sick though. A Steelers vs Eagles Super Bowl is a Cowboys fan's nightmare. My god! next weeks picks:

Steelers vs Ravens - Ravens gotta win so I'm picking them
Cardinals vs Eagles - Cardinals gotta win so I'm picking them.

The Steelers and Eagles can't win. the just can't. Please God!!!!!

Its gonna be Arizona vs Baltimore in the Super Bowl. While I despise the parity era, that is actually a very solid match up. Could be one of the best Super Bowls in years.

Funny thing about the Eagles.....

Almost every year they collapse and fans want to lynch McNabb and Reid, yet they always sneak into the playoffs. I have never been a fan, but you gotta give that team credit where its due.

Eagles vs. Arizona NFC Championship game - anyone have that predicted at the start of the playoffs? Kudos if you did..

I predicted Arizona in the SB during our preseason predictions.

Home teams 0-3 in divisional round, maybe home field advantage isn't what it was? Home teams went 2-2 in Wildcard Weekend. Also odd that now that week 17 Giants-Panthers game was absolutely meaningless

Its the parity era. No such thing as home field advantage anymore.

James, why did the Bills retain Dick Jauron?  That move confuses me; the man inspires no confidence.  He's in the good coordinator/bad head coach mold.  Was Ralph Wilson too cheap to fire him? Just wondering.

I pretty much abandoned the Bills when they shit all over Flutie. That whole fiasco left a very bitter taste in my mouth. Bears and Bills always been my favorite teams though, so I understand Bills fans being frustrated with Jauron, and I feel their pain. 16

Jauron is reminiscent of coaches like Schottenheimer, Philips, Bobby Ross, etc. Able to capitalize on the talent already in place when he arrives and build on it, yet completely unable to win deep in the playoffs. That Bears resurgence under Jauron should have culminated in at least one SB win. Instead, there were none. That team could have been a major obstacle to that Pats dynasty.

I'm glad there is at least one other person in this world that sees this for what it is...the NEW NFL is one of parody...and everyone wanted it so badly. It's funny how most of the people around here preach capatilism and free market competition; however, when it comes to your sports, you want socialism and equality for all.

Why don't we throw a deck of cards in the air every football season and the 12 that land face up will be the playoff teams. Then we can throw the cards up in the air again until the superbowl winner is determined. We can have a whole season in about 45 minutes!

Re: 2008 NFL season

Oh come on, seeing parody like this is generally good. The saying that anything can happen on any given Sunday is a beautiful thing in sports. But still you have Pit in 3 of the last 5 conference championship games, Eagles with a similar or even better number, teams like Indy San Diego and NYG making the playoffs fairly often. A dynasty still exists in New England.

And some teams perpetually suck - Lions, Bills, Texans, 49ers and Chiefs are in a pretty big stretch now.

When you watch a team miss the playoffs for a decade and go 7-9 3 years in a row, how can you tell me the league is consumed with parody?

I don't mind retaining Jauron because he does develop young talent well, but the Bills need more dynamic coordinators and some more in-game adjusting. Playcalling and young QB decision making, which Jauron has no hand in, are the Bills biggest problems imo. It's tough when a bad team plays conservative, but you need to trust that they can get better. Maybe if there was more parody in the league that could happen for a year or two.
