Re: Poltergeist remake (2009)
The more I think about it the more I think this remake could actually be good in the right hands.
But I think its going to be built around "They're heeerrreee" and filled with cheap scares and new
lame subplots like Amityville Horror... Which funny enough basically stole the character of
Reverend Kane from Poltergeist. Did anyone else notice that?

But it won't be done well. Too many haunted house-style horror movies rely on CGI to get the job done today. Unfortunately, CGI has no real place in this type of horror (or any real horror, but I'll argue that another time). An over-reliance on CGI and jump scares is what crippled Alex Aja's Mirrors, which deeply, deeply disappointed me. There is no way you're going to see a remake of Poltergeist with the same atmosphere and daring visuals as the original.
