I got to wondering over the weekend, anyone think that maybe they are waiting it out for a singer to finish his current duties (Kid Rock, Kravitz, Buck Cherry, Chris Robinson).

Maybe they are in agreement on it, but the singer is currently in a band & on tour, so they are awaiting it to end to get together, practice & announce it.  Just a thought.

I hope it's something like that...but I suspect its just the "can't find anyone" delay much like when VR was first formed. Which worries me...as when the band gets inactive...people get back on drugs and it's not good for the longeviity of these guys!

It's not going to be Josh Todd from Buckcherry (even though that would be cool!) as it's pretty clear from slash's novel he wasn't into the sound of Todd's voice...he was going to quit VR at one stage cos of that.

I know he's already been ruled out but I'll throw this out there anyway.  In the same interview Sebastian Bach gave yesterday about there not being 4 GNR albums ready for release he was also asked about VR.  He said that the only time he was ever up for consideration was the first time around before they hired Weiland.  He wasn't considered this time around and he said that he likes the music he's making better than VR's.  Saying their music is more trendy, and he's never considered himself a "trendy" kind of guy.

We're talking about the 'non-trendy' guy, who's still playing the big Skid Row-hits, right?

S Baz thinks VR is "trendy" but most people here think it's 80s music rehashed.  Well, the good news is at least one side (and in my opinion both) is (are) wrong.

Hah, excellent news:

Seems like a good deal to me. More Hard Rock, less Grunge, back to his roots (or "comfort zone", for all you nay-sayers out there). Seems to be the popular thing to do these days anyway (just ask Lars & Mr. Hetfield).

Slash says Velvet Revolver singer search is 'still ongoing'

Back in July, we reported that Spacehog's Royston Langdon was in the running to fill the Velvet Revolver frontman spot vacated by Scott Weiland, but guitarist Slash tells EW.com that while he, bassist Duff McKagan, guitarist Dave Kushner, and drummer Matt Sorum "did click" with Langdon, "he's not necessarily the right guy for this particular band." Speaking prior to an appearance at the Northridge Guitar Center in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, where Slash was promoting a limited edition line of Gibson guitars as well as the recently released book Reckless Road: Guns N' Roses & The Making Of Appetite For Destruction (written by his childhood friend Marc Canter), the legendary guitarist spelled it out: "I think Royston's fantastic, but he's more in the Scott Weiland range, which is great for that, but what we want to do is something aggressive and very hard rock. Basically, what we originally planned to do the first time around that was sort of molded differently when Scott came into it." The informal audition process, he adds, "is still ongoing. Now that we have the choice, we're gonna make sure we get the right guy."

I'm glad they are looking to go back into the original direction that wanted to go in.

That's the best news i've read in ages! Getting out of the hard rock vibe with scott was the thing that spoiled VR i think. I mean i like them anyway - but guitarwise it was always less fun than snakepit...with a real rock frontman this band could be kickass
