I watched That Metal Show with Duff last night on On Demand, when the show was taped, and Duff said VR HAS  a new lead singer but they aren't announcing it yet.... Perhaps because he's busy with Loaded and Slash is busy with his solo album.

But he said that the singer has already been picked.

That was taped MONTHS ago, like in March before Loaded's album came out.  He's since said they don't have a singer.  I think it was that point where they THOUGHT they had a singer, but then decided it just wasn't right.  I guess they could always change their minds and go back with whoever that singer was, but I foresee much more waiting ahead.

Thx for that heads up faldor.

They're probably done with whole thing. Slash is going solo, Duff is happily doing Loaded again, I think they're fine with that.

They'll just sit back and wait for Axl to call in terms of "bands".

I accidently erased "I don't know" when the show was taped, when I posted that. 16

They could still have a singer picked. I don't see why they would announce it now or while they're in the midst of solo projects. Who knows?

I still think the hold up was the Spacehog guy not joining. I know he wasn't popular around here but I think it would have been a very "Bowie/Nirvana-esque" VR and that would have been cool.

I don't think they're anwhere near ready to reconvene.  Maybe they were making some headway at some point and were looking to move forward but it's pretty clear that Slash is going to go full bore with his solo record and Duff is quite content with Loaded.  Even Matt is keeping himself occupied and Dave has collaborated with Franky Perez.  VR is NOT the main priority in any of their lives right now despite what they might say.  It's on the back burner and they're not about to pull the plug completely, but the timing just isn't right.

14 No shit.

They should stick a fork in this band. Its burnt toast. They had a good run riding the initial VR buzz. That's all it was worth. Axl's stale album shits all over both their records.

Just keep doing the solo stuff. Sorum can find work. I don't give two shits about Kushner, and in the off chance VR do eventually record another album, for the love of God get rid of him and bring Izzy onboard.

Yeah, CD owns VR. The only thing i'd say in VR's defense is they didn't have $13+ million at their disposal, and a decade to work it. It blows my mind the Slashites that still deny the average-quality of VR. They actually are BETTER off by themselves, than together in an odd sense. Hell Loaded's "Sick" shits all over both VR albums.

All they are doing right now, and have been since Weiland's departure is keeping the light on, as to not burn the bridge completely. But all of these guys, Axl included, are gonna reach a point, if they haven't already, that people in the biz aren't even gonna accept their phonecalls unless they are talking GN'R reunion. Otherwise, bug off.

I really think the biz is done with them on a mainstream level at least. The only reason Slash got on AI, is that show is a MECCA for has been's. That was the inside joke to all of us with a brain, was his appearence on AI signified the death of his relevance. Imo, Axl hit this in 2006 appearing on Eddie Trunk, a show who's host worships... Ronnie James Dio.

Slash has got good company. Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi... you know the 'heavyweights' of the music scene. roll

Axlin08, if Slither, Fall To Pieces, and You Got No Right were all on CD, how much better would CD be?  I say a lot better.  Oh, and though Sucker Train Blues on there for shits and giggles.  2 great rockers that would do well on radio, and 2 great ballads...  Are we still acting like Ryiad and Bedouins and Scraped are great tunes?  Talk about FILLER.  Both of VR's albums and CD have some good songs, but none are great albums.  This I Love with Slash on guitar could have been really special.  The best CD song IMO is If The World.

I've been the first person to say Scraped & Riad are the Get In The Ring & Shotgun Blues of CD.

And oh, don't get me started on Fall To Pieces.

Worst ballad ever. Instrumentally it's ace, but Weiland's lyrics are god fuckin' awful. I can hear less cliche listening to Firehouse.

I agree, let Axl sing, the sound would be great... What could Axl have done with Slither??? or Sucker Train Blues as well...
