Re: METALLICA Discussion
I was just thinking about this the other day.
(in order by album release, and track listing)
13 tracks on each disc, two discs, all will fit.
Disc 1:
The Four Horsemen
Motorbreath
Jump In The Fire
Whiplash
Seek & Destroy
For Whom The Bell Tolls
Fade To Black
The Call of Ktulu
Master of Puppets
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
One
Harvester of Sorrow
Stone Cold Crazy
Disc 2:
Enter Sandman
Sad But True
The Unforgiven
Wherever I May Roam
Nothing Else Matters
Of Wolf and Man
Hero of the Day
Bleeding Me
Fuel
The Memory Remains
Whiskey In The Jar
Tuesday's Gone
The Day That Never Comes
Metallica has such a vast catalog of good material imo. I think it's worth mentioning the cutting room floor tracks that I painfully did away with...
Fight Fire With Fire
Ride The Lightning
Battery
Orion
And Justice For All
To Live Is To Die
Until It Sleeps
King Nothing
Mama Said
The Unforgiven II
I Disappear
St. Anger
Some Kind of Monster
Cyanide
The Unforgiven III
That's basically a 'Disc 3', but I think adding a third would be too much. The two discs above are lean and mean. Disc 1 basically encompasses 'cult' Metallica, and Disc 2 'mainstream' Metallica.

METALLICA Spokesperson: NEWSTED And TRUJILLO Will Both Play At ROCK HALL Induction - Apr. 1, 2009
A day after former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted told Billboard.com that his replacement, Robert Trujillo, would not take part in the performance part of Saturday night's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland, a spokesman for the group's label, Warner Bros. Records, clarified that "Jason and Robert will both be playing METALLICA's induction songs." He did not indicate what the songs would be or if Newsted and Trujillo would be on stage together or separately.
METALLICA is flying in from Paris, where the group plays Wednesday and Thursday nights, with plans to rehearse with Newsted at soundcheck on Friday.
Earlier this week, Newsted — who was METALLICA's bassist from 1986-2001 — said that when Lars Ulrich called to invite him to play at the ceremony, the drummer told him that "Robert's not gonna play at all...He wants to be there as a fan, too, and wants to see the 'black' album (1991's 'Metallica') band." Newsted added that he never expected to play in the first place and was "totally on board" with the idea of the current version of METALLICA performing without him.
"I felt strongly they should go as that band and represent because...they're strong right now together," Newsted said. "There was no negativity, no hubbub or jealousy or silly, childish...It was years ago, man. We're just gonna have a...great celebration."
