Being the big Metallica fan that I am, I was gonna like this album regardless, but I am really impressed. The band put allot of effort into this - the music is some of the best they've written and the album art/packaging is great too. I bought the digipack version with the coffin holes cut through the booklet. Very cool.

Yeah, that bugged me as well.

Fuck, I'm loving this album. The more I listen, another track becomes my new favourite. I'm loving That Was Just Your Life at the moment, it's like an updated version of Blackened.

I'm going to have to listen to this album - I just noticed you could DL the whole album as add on content to GHIII an the PS3.  If it's good, I'll get the add on version.

At first i was unsure about this...i think as i've gotten used to the load/re-load style metallica..but i must say its growing on me. It's nice the solos are back....the problem with St Anger was the structures and lack of solos i think

Re: METALLICA Discussion

so i slept in my car in the parking lot of the local ticketbastard location in order to be first in line for metallica tix there, i just wanted a pair of GA floor tix for the ontario, CA show on Dec. 12.

ticketing online would be useless as i have only dialup internet at home and it takes ten minutes for the damn captcha image to load (which does no good anyways), and i figured it gave me a better chance to go there physically.

if i had any clue about the total worthlessness of my efforts i would not have wasted my time.

i was indeed first in line, but not only could i not get two floor tix, there was NOTHING available in the first level of seats. section 206 was the best that was left. so i didn't buy ANY.

i am more than willing to pay face value to ticketbastard for good enough seats but refuse to spend $20 less for crap.

i spent almost $500 to be GA for GNR in vegas and VR in LA, and succeeded in being right up at the stage. completely worth the $$.

please understand i don't blame the band for this and i have no problem with fan club presales. i just think it is ridiculous cause this is 100% the fault of ticket brokers, greedy assholes. the fans the music means the most to are shut out of shows they COULD afford at face value. and i am not talking about myself.

i could afford $400 for 2 floor tickets but on principle i will not do that cause i am not going to support greed.  the system is so broken. 17

There's no point in trying to buy tickets at any outlets anymore. You either buy online or don't buy at all. All the tickets get snagged online while you're standing in a line.

If you don't know someone with high speed, you should go to your local library to use Ticketmaster.

I agree the system is fucked, and all those scalper sites need to be shut down. I mentioned this before, but I wound up paying hundreds for tickets for the last MIA show I went to and the tickets really were supposed to be 25 bucks. The scalpers bought all those tickets immediately and fans were forced into the high prices.

Not sure how it works in the usa...but it's also fucked in australia. What needs to go here are all the 'special' ways to buy tickets before the "public" onsale date. When a band goes on sale here it's like this:

1. Presumabely some tickets are kept by the promoter for competitions and thr band and so forth.
2. There is an internet pre-sale date where a portion of each section of the venue is sold online before the offical street date.
3. Prior to that there is a "pre-sale" for customer's of our major phone companies who are in bed with the ticket companies.
4. Prior to that there there is "pre-sale" for visa-preferred customers who pay a premium price for "preffered" tickets - but you don't know where they are when you buy them.
5. Prior to that there is a pre-sale for "privlage club" members of the ticket company - where you pay over $100 a year just to sometimes get this sale info.
6. Sometimes there are band fan club pre-sales as well
7. Then we get to the actual sale date - wherre the rest go online or in person.

ITs really fucked...appart from the insanity of claiming that that 7th time is when the show "goes on sale" - it's also retarded for fans - like if u really want good seats..how do u know which sale to go for...as some are held for each kind....i start wondering if visa has better seats than privliage club and so on...it's really insane.
