Metallica fans are quite possibly the dumbest fans ever of any band. Metallica tried to be a multi-layered, multi-talented band, and all their fans wanted them to be is metal's AC/DC. Every album should've sounded like Ride The Lightning or Master of Puppets over and over and over. It's just lame. The Black Album is probably their best album ever, and yet no one wants to give it credit because it wasn't Puppets II.

ANYWAYS, from what i've heard this album is better than St. Anger, definitely. But I still think it's an average output in comparison to all of their previous albums, Load & Reload included.

I don't necessarily want Puppets 2.  It'll never happen.  I just want good music from them.  Period.  I've always hated it when people want a band to do another

Insert album name here

.  From the 3 songs I've heard Metallica seemed to have made a good album.  And that is all that matters.  And speaking of Load Axlin08.  Too bad that the music on this album is not very good cause lyrically this album is very heavy.

Something has been lost in translation here. No one in their right mind says on public TV that he thinks it's good that his songs are being used for torture.

Yeah...i think he ment like - if they are going to use agressive music to torture people - its kinda an honour that his music was considered to be sufficiently agressive - like on a purely accedemic level - it makes a person proud to know even the government knows your band is badass.

The sad part to me though is the way people "Um" and "Argh" over the ethics of this kind of thing. In a way i respect metallicas stance here - like he said 'politics' divides people where music should unite...but then for me personally I feel we need to stand up at some point and say that some ethics need to exist and that torture-ethics is not 'politics' but a matter of basic decency. But then I know the terrorists are bad guys as well. But in my mind that the other guys are worse, doesn't give us a free pass to just walk away from the ethical principles that USA and others traditionally pride themselves on. So i feel that torture is never acceptable. But that's just me. Wow...I'm way off topic huh!

For the record i'm not bashing metallica over thing. I can see why they are choosing to keep neutral. I'm just saying i wouldn't want my own music used that way.

That brought a tear to my eye. Beautiful.

Hopefully GNR's "Coma" will make it into the rotation eventually.

Well, I got a copy of the leak today and I'm still holding out on listening to most of it until I get the official CD on the weekend, but fuck me, lame song title aside, All Nightmare Long kicks motherfucking ass. It's like Enter Sandman on steroids!

Also, these songs aren't good enough to be so long. Trim the fat on these tracks and it probably would have been more listenable

There's a shortened version of the album floating around the net. I'll see if I can find it at some point.
