I wasn't too impressed the first time I listened to "The Day That Never Comes." I'm now on my 5th or 6th listen, and the song is rapidly growing on me. When I heard all the talk about what Death Magnetic was going to be like, my opinion was that the album would be a 'hit and miss' at best. But now, my first opinion has changed...I think it has the ability to be one hell of an album. Of course I'll need to hear more material to express my final views. The one thing I'm worried about is that I hope they don't tarnish the first two Unforgiven's with "The Unforgiven III."

Just a note for everybody, avoid all the torrent downloads for this single.  I just noticed the one I downloaded was a .exe .   I started looking at the other torrents and they're almost all junk.

What?!

The Unforgiven II is one of my favourite songs of all time! 14

There are some great Metallica songs out there that don't get the recognition they deserve imo. And they also have some great cover tunes.

The Unforgiven II
Until It Sleeps
The Memory Remains
No Leaf Clover
Turn The Page (Bob Seger Cover)
Loverman (Nick Cave And The Bad Seed)

True these songs marked a change in directon for Metallica, but they are great songs nonetheless.

Hey thats okay man, everyone has an opinion. I liked the Unforgiven II when it first came out in 97, but it didnt last long with me. Actually I only really like Fuel, Devil's Dance, and the Memory Remains off of "Reload". I thought "Load" was better. I'm not big on either, but they have some good songs on those two. I have always loved Until it Sleeps though. I remember when it was released, I was like "Woah, this is different, but its okay!"

Re: METALLICA Discussion

I did my best to figure out the lyrics to "The Day That Never Comes" for those who feel like they want to read them.

Born to push you around, better just stay down
You pull away, he hits the flesh
You'll hit the ground
Mouth so full of lies, tend to block your eyes
Just keep them closed, keep praying
Just keep waiting

Waiting for the one
The day that never comes
When you stand up and feel the warmth
But the sunshine never comes, no

No, the sunshine never come

Push you across that line, just stay down this time
Hide in yourself, crawl in yourself
You'll have your time
God I'll make them pay, take it back one day
I'll end this day, I'll splatter color on this gray

Waiting for the one
The day that never comes
When you stand up and feel the warmth
But the sunshine never comes

Love is a four letter word
A never broken share
Love is a four letter word
Here in this prison

I'll suffer this no longer
I'll put an end to,
This I swear
This I swear, the sun will shine
This I swear, this I swear
This I swear
