Re: My grandmother died
Thursday my grandmother passed away. It was horrible... she was perfectly healthy (for a 78 year old lady). I stopped by to visit and my grandfather was waving me in the house saying that he thought my grandmother had died....I ran in the house and dialed 911, luckily my aunt had already called. Me and her did cpr for about 15 mins before the paramedics showed up. She was declared dead at the hospital. Died from a massive stroke.
It still hasnt sunk in that she's dead... i'm strangely detached about it. Its really weird. I mean I was sooo close to her, I lived next door to her for the first twenty years of my life. I talked to her every day... but i'm like numb to it. I went to work yesterday and I was fine. I keep catching myself thinking about her like she's still here though. I was at work, and I saw a jacket she would have liked, thought to myself "oh man i should tell nana about that..."
The worst part is, up until just recently she was healthy as a horse, had more spunk than even I did. I really thought my grandfather would go first, he's been having some pretty bad health problems. She was one of those old school old ladys who said whatever the fuck was on her mind. Whenever I fucked up she used to threaten me with "I'll piss in a bucket and throw it on you":haha: She never did... but you get the picture of what she was like.

Re: My grandmother died
I am so sorry for your loss Tommie.
Know that she lived a long and healthy life and I have to say, after seeing my dad suffer for 6 months and the worst of his suffering in the last 10 days in the hospital and the worst the last day, I'd rather him go the way your grandmother went.
Still so sad either way.

Re: My grandmother died
I'm sorrry for your loss Tommie, I lost my Grandmother almost exactly 2 years ago and whilst we weren't as close as it sounds like you and your Grandmother were, I can really relate to that numbness you feel. It doesn't really sink in for quite a while.
Sorry to hear your bad news as well buzzsaw, keeping busy is sometimes all you can do, I wouldn't necessarily say it's a bad way of dealing with it though, we all react differently.

Re: My grandmother died
That really sucks man. Hope everyone is able to deal with it alright.
Re: My grandmother died
My mom died at 47, my dad died at 64, all 4 grandparents have passed, my father in law died at 59, my brother in law at 37 and my wife and I lost a second child at 33 weeks of pregnancy due to a cord accident (the baby was already about 6 lbs). I know a little bit too much about death, and I am only 41. My condolences Tommie....it is tough if you have never experienced it first hand. Buzzsaw, mom's are by far the hardest....hang in there. I forgive you for your Replacements comments.
