Re: The General and Monsters
The wah infused or whatever guitar that comes in early in The General is definitely Slash. The other guitar (that you hear first) must be Fortus.
Agree, vocals are very similar to OMG effects wise anyway.
Monsters to me sounds like Duff and Slash had a lot of input. Hell the timing in the beginning is almost the same as Slither’s intro.
Both songs have an Anxious Disease by Outpatience vibe to me.
The General isn’t bad at all, but Monsters is Badass!
Axl could cover “Woke up this morning” by Alabama 3 easily. (The Sopranos intro song). His voice from Monsters could cover that easily.
Also the “it’s over now” reminds me of the Coverdale Page album for some reason.

There’s no excuses for the hell I let you put me through
I'm speculating on this one but I also wonder if that line is "there's no excuses for the hell on earth you put me through"
I might be hearing things there though it's hard to make out.
Thanks for all your work with the lyrics, I love to read into what Axl is saying with these kinds of songs.

yeah i think you are right
it also fits better in the structure of the songs
The ranting part is the part I had most trouble with. Dondanov was a huge help on that part since I couldn't make out a lot of it lol
I am still not sure on the "But in the end I guess you’re good for the damin’" line
the last word I cant quite make out but I think its close
As for what Axl is saying on these songs
I think these songs are about just giving up, which makes them super dark if true

Yeah, I wondered about that too. But I think 'damning' does make sense - both with the previous line about how he formally thought the person was worth having, and also the themes in the song of Satan's laugh, the devil's romancing and the monsters in hell and hell on earth. So i think it kinda fits.

Re: The General and Monsters
I swear the ending outro lead guitar of Monsters is Finck. The more I listen, the more it sounds like his style, than Slash’s.

Dude, no bad vibes, I hear slash in that part, we don't know for sure, but I'm like many sounds around here and that's slash!

I also agree as they say here that Monsters reminds me of Velvet Revolver, it also reminds me of Faith No More, and The General is very Korn!

I think this line might be
"The dirty secret that you hid away inside of you"
You nailed it , nice job. Updated lyrics
The monsters in hell with me
A Tour da force of an evil passion
A broken heart that was out of fashion
A dynamic duo in your big attraction
My early warning was your satan laughingI was there for you
It’s all I could do
Oh but it’s over now
Oh but it’s over nowI was there for you
It’s all I could do
Oh but it’s over now
Oh but it’s over nowThe monsters in hell with me
You stole my soul with the devils romancin'
All alone when your bedroom dancin’
I thought I could feel somebody worth havin’
But in the end I guess you’re good for the damin’I was there for you
It’s all I could do
Oh but it’s over now
Oh but it’s over nowThe monsters in hell with me
The more I did what I did I did for you
There's no excuses for the hell on earth you put me through
I never get how much I cared but I cared for you
To make it better there was nothing that I wouldn’t do
I doubt there’s anybody living who wants to know the truth
The dirty secret that you hid away inside of you
Whoever thought I’d be around to shed a light on you
Well heres the story baby I got nothing else to doI was there for you
It’s all I could do
Oh but it’s over now
Oh but it’s over nowThanks to Mon Rom (Dondanov) and Monkey Chow for help with the ranting part In the second half of the song and Gagarin and Dark for some corrections on the parts I could not figure out.
I'm wondering if it's actually: "The monster's in here with me" and "But in the end I guess you’re good for the damage"
