Not only am I jumping off the bandwagon before it starts, I'm gonna go ahead and make a prediction....

Jets go 6-10 or 7-9 and miss the playoffs.

The Jets are a hard team to read this year. Before they got Favre I was thinking 6-10, even after all the offseason moves they did. With Favre, I wonder how he'll adapt to a new system, how will the new O-line protect him, and the defense will be a question mark with or without Favre. I could see them as 6-10, or maybe 9-7.

How did did the O line protect Pennington?

There's too much competition in the AFC for the Jets to be contenders.

New England
Indianapolis
Cleveland
Pittsburgh
Jacksonville
Tennessee
San Diego
Baltimore
Buffalo

I just don't see how the Jets fit in to that equation. Not only do they have to deal with those contenders, there are the other lower tier teams like Denver, Cincinnati, Kansas City, etc. that could have a minor resurgence as well. To add a cherry on top, they will be playing Miami twice and will most likely split that series.

Favre walked in to a crapshoot.

They didnt protect Pennington for shit, but that added Alan Fanaca and Damien Woody. I'm not sure what they'll give you, but it cant be much worse than last year. Plus Favre gets rid of the ball so quick he's tough to sack.

From that list, I think they will at least compete with Tennessee, Baltimore, and Buffalo. Buffalo is the biggest wildcard from that group, cause they certainly seem like a team on the rise.

But overall, I agree. It's still gonna be a tough year for the Jets. I mean, they are likely to lose at least 2 in the division against NE. Then you look at the others. Its certainly going to be interesting.

You think the Bears will make a play for Pennington once he's released?

I'm actually shocked that Favre didn't demand a trade to the Ravens since he was headed to the AFC. It was the only legitimate playoff contender without a QB that gave him a chance at one last SB run in the twilight of his career.

This would be like if Joe Montana had gone to Tampa Bay in 1993. Makes no sense at all.

Its also why Montana declined to play for the Cardinals who had massive interest in him. He saw the NFC loaded with dominant teams and he had less of a chance in that conference. He went to the AFC which was pretty weak, and was one quarter away from a SB appearance his first year there.

Favre did the opposite.

If they do, I'll shoot myself.

He needs to be at least a light year away from a football at any given time.

The guy had potential early in his career, but injuries ruined a promising career. He needs to retire.

The bigger issue was getting Favre on the same page as the Packers front office as far as the Jets were concerned.

Even Favre himself had second guesses going there.:nervous:

Oh man...............

Gonna be a good season.

Yeah I dont think that Favre had many choices though. Supposedly the Bucs and Jets were the main two. I dont think Baltimore would have been that interested in bringing him in since they drafted Flaaco in the first round this year. They may wanna give him a chance to start sometime this year.

I think Pennington would be a great backup. I would love to have him to backup Eli.

The Jets have two good receivers, so that says to me it could easily be another year where Favre throws just as many interceptions as he does touchdowns.  While trying to learn a new system he's gonna try to force things more than normal, and normal for him is already high for the rest of the league.
