Re: Mitt's suspends campaign
Right, Bush's presidency has been in a time of war where Clinton had no major conflicts or events during his presidency; it was pretty uneventful.
Although it's partially choices made too. Granted 911 was a disaster, one of the worst (probably the worst) attacks to affect us. But Iraq is the wrong country to be in. Are we fighting Al Qaeda & terrorists, or are we helping Iraq recover from the post-Saddam era. Because everytime I hear about the good that's being done it's always about improving Iraqi's way of life, building schools, restoring electricity & water (No offense, but didn't out bombing knock it out in the first place). Not so much about catching terrorist, although admittedly we do catch some, which is a good thing. But there are other (several otehr) countries under poor leadership & dictators. Clinton had Somalia to deal with, and could have chosen to invade & overthrow their government, but chose not to. (Makes me wonder if oil is part of the reason for assisting Iraq, with a Texas president, many ties to the oil industry, Haliburton working in Iraq, hmmmmm. That's a whole nother discussion). Somalia easily could have been a 6+ year war, with insurgents resisting & fighting back at us. Again, it was a fairly quick stay. Maybe it wasn't as serious a need as Iraq, but I don't think so, I think it was the decision made, to choose not to overthrow. A foreign policy.
Re: Mitt's suspends campaign
Clinton's Somalia operation was a fucking disaster. He might burn in hell for that. Our troops were stuck there getting killed and he wouldn't even authorize reinforcements to save our troops. The few troops who survived that had to be saved by the UN forces in the area. That city should have been carpet bombed into oblivion. ALL the citizens there were celebrating(including children) while dragging the nude bodies of US soldiers through the streets.
Had that happened on Reagan's watch, there wouldn't be a single person alive in Mogadishu.
