Re: We don't really expect a new setlist do we?
not getting over with the casual fans: https://www.facebook.com/ultimateclassi … 3112890009
Most of that is just shit posting....I'd wager a handful are forum junkies.
It's too soon for casual feedback. It's been what....an hour since it was played for the first time?
Maybe some more media outlets will pick up on it in the coming days.
Having said that...it IS an odd song to debut when people are wondering about new material.
Methinks Hardschool should get played at the next show.
Re: We don't really expect a new setlist do we?
Absolute shot in the arm.
If they add Hard School and Perhaps things will be on a good path.
Unfortunately only 1 of those was on the rehearsal list iirc.
As much as I love getting to hear new live stuff.....do NOT waste Perhaps in a live setting for the first time.
That begs for a proper release...let people soak it in....then add it to the setlist.

Re: We don't really expect a new setlist do we?
We're not getting their King Animal.....
We're getting their A Different Kind of Truth.
Hey, A Different Kind of Truth was a fantastic Van Halen album. It wasn’t Roth’s leftover solo weirdness turned over to Eddie Van Halen to guitar solo over. It actually sounded like Van Halen, just like King Animal sounded like Soundgarden.
Absurd however sounds quite absurd. Might as well debut My World with Slash and Duff on it by comparison.
Positive things to point out:
- Axl sings in his lower register which suits him much better
- Slash is trying his best to rock up this song the way he can, adding some vintage riffing and shredding soloing
- it’s a new (ok 20 year old) song in the set
Negatives:
- Axl’s lyrics are mostly repeated over throughout the song, and it sounds unfinished in that regard
- Axl cut out the “what can I do with a bitch like you” line, one of the cooler parts of the 2001 version
- Slash looked uncomfortable as hell playing that, and even I will admit it’s much better suited to Finck/Bucket

Yeah Perhaps is the best of those demos.
Oklahoma seems like itmcould be something special with a little work. Not too hard, not too soft.

This HAS to mean something is in the works right??? They wouldn't just play Silkworms and have Hardschool in the set just because of the leaks right? The leaks made no noise outside of gnr forums. I hope we hear Oklahoma and Soul Monster and The General now, even the versions without Bucket I would be fine with they show a lot of promise.
