I was being facetious, but my point remains the same. Someone willing to shake hands and negotiate with those who want nothing short of our extinction is naieve and a fool at best. Regardless, I don't want him in charge of the military in which I serve in because I'm not interested in serving as a UN soldier. No one has explained how Clinton or Obama will aide in the depleting value of the dollar. My biggest issue with Obama is the same issue I made vocal in 2006; change for change sake is not good policy. Americans took it hook line and sinker in '06 that things would some how be different if Democrats were elected. Democrats ran on the same platform as Obama is now (anyone wonder why) by saying elect us because it will be something different; won't elaborate or explain how it's different, just that it's different. As anyone can point out, nothing has changed since 2006 under and Democratic program and in fact, congressional approval rating has fallen. People should take notice of this when they champion behind Obama just because he is "different".
I'm interested in a leader who loves America and sees themself as an American and not simply a member of the world community. I'm not interested in being a peace keeper, aide or police to whatever ills other nations have. I want someone who's primary focus is the longevity of America and believes in self determinaion and individual responsibilty. The Democrats have been the antithesis of this thinking for at least the past 30 years. Recently, Republicans have adopted similar ideas. McCain, while not perfect, best represents my values and I believe he is most qualifed to protect our national security interests which is my primary concern.
The Democratic Congress can't get anything done because Bush vetoes it or will veto it. They don't have enough of a majority to override his veto. Even you know that.
And Clinton or Obama would aid the falling dollar because they actually would focus on the economy before it's in disaster mode.
I guess you'll have to get used to serving under someone who doesn't love America, because McCain ain't winning.
Re: The Super Tuesday thread
You don't wish to be a UN soldier, but wish to sit in any country that Bush/McCain can fantasize about sending you to, and for years on end?
You do realize McCain embraces globalism just as much as any left winger, don't you? You'll be in bed with UN troops one way or the other.
I do agree with your stance on that issue though. Reagan was very anti UN, and should have passed a law(maybe even forcing a constitutional amendment) that makes it illegal for UN troops to share a battlefield with american forces. UN should be on mop detail after the fact. Not doing so was a huge mistake, as it led to several Clinton fiascos where our troops were at the mercy of the UN(Somalia, former Yugoslavian republics,etc.).
The way Clinton and Obama will deal with the dollar collapse is raising taxes(and probably to a pretty high level) in order to get this runaway debt to a manageable level. Don't complain when those taxes get high either. Your boy Bush is the cause of this. These trade deficits have to be dealt with as well. I believe a democrat has the balls to tackle this as we already know Bush or McCain is unwilling to do so. All they want to do is spend spend spend and not think about the consequences.
I do agree with you regarding the whole Hillary health care thing. Its a fiasco just waiting to happen. As I mentioned before, I am not against a Universal health care program, but there has to be a more creative way to implement it.
Re: The Super Tuesday thread
First results are in.....
Huckabee has won West Virginia. Romney came in 2nd, and McCain 3rd. 30 delegates were up for grabs.
More results will start coming in in about 10-20 minutes as polls start closing in some states on the east coast at 7pm eastern time.
Re: The Super Tuesday thread
Yeah he won Georgia, but there are some interesting exit polls coming out on the republican side. So far, only 49% of McCain's votes identify themselves as conservatives. The rest are voting for either Romney or Huckabee.
McCain is in serious trouble. If he was running against just one republican instead of two, his campaign would end today.
Re: The Super Tuesday thread
I've never been asked anything after voting. Where do they do these exit polls? Who do they ask? Etc. Obama getting lots of white votes and three-quarters of those 44 and younger. What's that mean? Trouble for Hillary.
Exit polls are random I think. I was involved in one exit poll, and it was during the 2000 election.
Can't believe Huckabee won a state!
As a Paul supporter, you better be hoping for a lot of Huckabee states because McCain is going to finish off the republican party.
Re: The Super Tuesday thread
Some more exit polls for Obama.......
86% of the black vote, 40% of the white vote....60% of the 40-59yr old vote, 71% of the 18-25yr vote
64% of the female vote
69% of the male vote
With stats like that, he is going to destroy Hillary. Obviously those statistics have to hold up in other states though.
