Re: W.A.R.: The Unauthorized Biography of William Axl Rose (By Mick Wall)
Mick Wall referred to Oklahoma as a tender ballad about his relationship with Erin everly....tho he mentions the blues in the same sentence so who knows....like I said the composition of the writing is all over the place
But yea its prolly Riad , pity he didnt research it A bit more.....he talks about Riad from other shows tho
For those who haven't read it, as axl/gnr fans, u will prolly enjoy the book...cost my wife $4
Got adlers & duffs books too. For $13 total so those are next on my list
Re: W.A.R.: The Unauthorized Biography of William Axl Rose (By Mick Wall)
Mick Wall has made a career of the one time Axl surrounded him with his goons about something Wall wrote about Guns, not to mention the Get in the Ring namedrop. Not that it'd matter much, but Wall's actual writing is, I found, heavily steeped in his personal grudge against Axl (still going strong as that's what brings him attention). More alarmingly, a lot of it is mere embroidery - he pulls up bits and pieces of material from other sources (articles, interviews, the internet) and puts them in a blender, turning out an account with admitted bias and loose factuality.
Same goes for Stephen Davies and Watch You Bleed. Too bad, really.
Re: W.A.R.: The Unauthorized Biography of William Axl Rose (By Mick Wall)
Mick did more Chinese Democracy promotion than Axl did when the album came out, I even spoke to him and he dedicated Madagascar to me on his radio show. I thought he was an ok guy, he was generally very complimentary about Axl and New GNR but he could never resist throwing out a wee jab and a backhanded comment. The thing is about Mick, his firsthand knowledge of of Axl ended back in yore but he made a career out of spreading heresay as fact in the aftermath of their falling out, thats pretty low, but a "journalist" through and through.
I'm actually in Axls corner when it comes to this disagreement that Mick was untruthful with Axls words in that interview, coz Mick always harks back to the "fact" that he has the tape recording of that interview and doesnt release so's not to embarrass Axl, but I just cant believe a media whore like Mick wouldnt ride that recording and wring every penny out of it as he could if he genuinely had such a thing.
