So apparently two weeks has turned to eight weeks (which coincidentally or not so coincidentally) is about the time of year when every other one of these mystery illnesses has blown over without shutting the world down.  If you didn't think this was ridiculous before, hopefully you're starting to get it.

CDC announces we have to "flatten the curve" and stay in for 2 weeks to not put the burden on the healthcare system; instead they put the burden on the food system and stores ran out of food.  Brilliant move!

A couple days (not weeks after they've seen what happened mind you), now it's 8 weeks.  8 fucking weeks???  What do they think is going to happen now?  People might (and I say might) have stayed in for 2 weeks.  There's no chance in hell people stay in for 8 weeks no matter how many events you cancel.  We have complete idiots making random decisions based on nothing but guesses without any concern for all the small business that will cease to exist and the pain they are creating for an entire population when they could be focusing on - i don't know - WORRYING ABOUT THE PEOPLE AT RISK!!!!

The worst part is the people going "well, if they say so..." - no, it's not just ok because they say so.  They don't know what they are doing.  They have zero evidence other than what happened in Italy with a different set of demographics.

I know this isn't the political thread, but for all of you hell bent on socialism, see Italy...

This is a rant.

What the hell does this have to do with Sociailism? I don’t understand why you think your opinion is better than the CDC.

I’ve been hearing Trump is about to shut down the country.

Are rants banned for 8 weeks too?  Fuck that.

You don't understand a lot of things mitch...mostly it's because you don't try to.

From the beginning I've said they have no idea what they are doing...that was before they started shutting things down randomly.  Nothing (and I mean nothing) has happened that changes that.  If anything, they've become even more random and they keep moving the bar.  A panic was created and now regardless of how much sense it makes or doesn't make, the government has little choice but to give into the panic.

What have they done that shows they have any clue what they are doing?  Don't say social distancing, because nursing homes and hospitals (that haven't policed themselves) are still open to visitors.  There's a very clear at risk population here, yet instead of doing things targeted at protecting that population, they are making nonsensical decisions to cancel things very few in the at risk population participate in.  On top of that, they are making decisions resulting in panic buying of food and other necessities that will force at risk people to put themselves at risk because they need food and those other necessities to survive.  There's no way to justify that other than you're incapable of thinking logically or acting out of fear.  Lock down the at risk population.  Have those responsible for the at risk population (whether that be employees of facilities or family) take the same precautions.  Done.  You haven't destroyed the economy, you haven't put small businesses at risk, you haven't put the at risk population in any more risk than they are now with all of these random "precautions" they are taking.

We're taking steps that have never been taken before in my lifetime at least.  The only reason they could give is about some curve that looks nice on paper but can be manipulated in far less intrusive and damaging ways than what they are doing. 8 weeks from now (or whenever what was going to happen anyway happens) when all of this goes away like it would have anyway, they are going to come along and justify all of it by the virus going away even though that was going to be the result anyway.  And people are going to buy into it and every single time a flu comes around we're going to go through the same thing because people were dumb enough to believe it made a difference.

I can't believe how cavalier you're being about this...you're saying just because this has never been done before that we shouldn't by doing it now? Nobody knows what they're doing except for you?

We're going on lock down here in Illinois. Now Neemo says Canada is on red alert.

Trump is the one who said this thing is going away on its own. I don't want to hear one more word from him. Someone should quarantine his mouth.

You'll likely have a great excuse as to why this was all so stupid in a couple months. Meanwhile, here in the real world, lots of us have obligations to adhere to...if you wan to go rogue, by all means.

I'm hearing rumors that they're about to deploy the national guard. As I said before...no one wants this happen...but it's fuckin' happening man.

Holy cow..... They're doing remote access everywhere here, even for classes. I don't see that lasting, but if people are still going to work sick, not sure if they have it I'd not, I'd take advantage of it.

I'd have lost it on the guy.

I can't believe you can't believe it.  I've always (ALWAYS) been about personal freedoms.  Finally you can understand that I don't give a fuck what Trump says.  Take responsibility for yourself.  If you're at risk or live with people at risk, don't go out.  Keep at risk people in homes and hospitals quarantined.  It's done bro.  Healthy people can handle it just fine until it goes away on it's own in a month or whenever these things always go away. Trump doesn't know dick and neither do all the so called experts.  Go back and ready everything I wrote...nowhere did I claim to have the solution.  Nobody does, and that's the point.  We're having all this collateral damage that you're perfectly okay with because people refuse to take care of themselves.  I'm not okay with giving up my freedoms because you're a dumbass (not you specifically for once mitch, but the idiots that are at risk, yet put themselves at risk anyway).
