I would say this is good marketing and business strategy to wait a year and then release the AFD anniversary to boost ticket sales but I don’t think this was a calculated move considering European shows always sell well.
The second option Monkey posted seems bang on considering all the flirting GNR has been doing with Sirius XM lately.

I'll say we're getting some sort of overdue compilation/box set. The use of destruction or the iconic skulls means nothing....they own it. They can use it whether its Izzy/Adler or Big Bird. It simply brings more attention by tying things to destruction.

there are some hints about Marquee on the other GNR forum, so probably this is going to be a reissue of AFD plus some bonus Marquee 87 tracks, we already have for decades anyway.
oh boy, I can't wait! maybe if we're really lucky they'll include the ritz 1988 on dvd
