You ever see that movie The Break-Up with Vince Vaughan and Rachel from Friends?

The funny (sad) thing is the rift between Axl and Slash was exactly like that.

Petty bullshit that just snowballed and spiraled out of control.

6-8 years wasted.

6-8 years?

More like 20 years wasted

First ever Hawaii date announced for the end of the tour.

Slash also seems to be talking up his desire to make new GNR album more and more.

Yes, true but between Axl's mental illness and Slash's alcoholism, it doesn't seem likely it would've happened until 2008-2010.

We can look back at 2001/2002 as well.

But really only a few select windows throughout the saga.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Quite possibly. Although I do, perhaps misguidedly, credit Slash with a degree more influence than DJ or Ron.

The main factor causing the delays on Chinese Democracy was a lack of enthusiasm from the record company and managers for a Slash-free GN'R. They dragged their heels in the hope that Axl would "come to his senses" and bring back the cat in the hat; that's ultimately the reason for the endless rounds of re-recording, the "eh, don't think you've got a hit here" attitude and the lack of promotion.

That isn't a problem any more. The minute the band is ready to record an album, the red carpet will be rolled out, the champagne will be put on ice and the promo machine will be ready to wheeze into life. They have buy-in now, because they have Axl, Slash and Duff.

You're delusional if you think red carpet will be rolled out for a rock band in their mid-50s.

Nothing you said here is true. the label was always tryign to force CD out that is why GHs was released because Axl missed their deadline

And a new GNR album with slash wont be huge at all.

Re: Guns N' Roses tour to continue through 2017(and beyond)

Huge is relative. No rock album is HUGE these days because rock isn’t mainstream. Expectations should be in line with that and the fact that this will be an album by guys in their mid 50’s (hopefully) and that just doesn’t have the mass market appeal of a fresh band in their 20’s.

In its favour is that Slash’s return gives them a second chance at ‘comeback’ album. Guarantee a GNR album with Slash does better than CD2 would have. Does that mean it’ll be huge? No, but a good single and some decent promo and it sells as well as any other rock album of recent years.

Huge is relative, but the new GN'R record should easily do as well as, say, Metallica's latest. And of course the wild card is Slash; the return of Slash to the fold makes this an event album in a way that, say, the latest Acca Dacca record just isn't. I mean, the NITL tour is the fourth-biggest tour ever; GN'R clearly has an appeal beyond the rock niche and people will pick up a new album out of curiosity. Greatest Hits got back into the Billboard 200 this year; it's evergreen. A rehashed AFD box set made it into the Billboard top 10 on release. Shadow of Your Love, a tossed-off B-side from the old days, racked up 5.1 million views on YouTube when it was released as a "new" song. So, yes, I think a new GN'R album would be a big success, especially given that there would be a substantial promo push around it.
If they're really canny, they'll get a pop star or two to do a UYI-style guest spot. Get Lady Gaga or whoever to duet on a track.
