Agree, Iran is by far a greater threat to us than Russia or NK.

We're already under attack and our intelligence agencies have warned us that more is on the way.

Russia just successfully completed a comprehensive cyber attack against our country and our democracy. They penetrated various voter systems throughout, undermined our confidence in our elections, hacked infrastructure, power grids, aviation, spread fake news and utilized social media to perform psychological warfare on our citizens. This is tantamount to an act of war, which our do-nothing Congress and complicit bozo in the White House seem perfectly fine appeasing.

They've been doing that for a while, but so has China and North Korea, and who knows who else. We do it back to them. Iran is funding terrorist groups hoping for mass killings of Americans. To murder us. Not posting mean things on Twitter to start Twitter fights. NK wanted nuclear weapons for an advantage to negotiate. Iran wants nuclear weapons to use them.

Let’s be fair SLC...they did pass a tax cut for some people.

You apparently are

How do you figure?

You just posted a long list of concerns on how you believe Trump is destabilizing our standing/security.

I respect the concern, but I disagree with your conclusion. Iran is a rogue state and is the 4th most concerning state to peace, behind Russia, China and NK respectively.

Europe doesn’t really have a choice here. They can ultimately alienate the US or choose to alienate Iran. Which do you think they’ll pick?

If Obama had followed the constitution and gotten a deal that could get 67 votes, this wouldn’t be an issue. Thats why we have to follow the process regardless of who’s in office. There was and is bipartisan opposition to the Iran deal.

Trump campaigned on removing this deal, he was elected, and has now followed through.

There’s 3-6 months for Europe to work with Iran to make changes. But no one should support an Islamic State posessing nuclear weapons. Especially when their legislature chants “Death to America” and burns our flag while in session. That’s not a rational actor.

I actually consider Iran more concerning than any of the other threats you mentioned.

You know as well as I do...if Obama was for something, the Republican congress was always against it. The really aren't doing much now either. They don't even take up votes when there's clearly enough votes to accomplish something. Congress regularly ignores its obligations and that's largely thanks to Mitch McConnell lately.

But do you really like the idea of Trump poking the bear like he did with NK? He picked on small potatoes with Kim-jong...now he's going after a much bigger threat with the same tactics. I don't like this...he's trying to provoke a response that could get us into war. This would be fine with me if his supporters were the ones that actually go to war...

Personally, I am sick an tired of fighting wars in the middle east. I do not remember a time when we weren't at war in the middle east in my entire life. I'm tired of funding it and paying for it. I'm tired of my political leaders contriving reasons to kill and be killed. I'm tired of the president bashing actual war heroes while he sits on his fat ass in Florida. We're running up huge deficits and we're going to spend a fortune on this military parade (if it ever happens).

Ya know who'll get hurt the most if these deficits collapse the economy again? These are the same people who won't have a job if the economy implodes on itself due to all this recklessness. They will also be the first to sign up to go fight a war for a decent paycheck. I'm sick to death of this cycle.

Trump clearly wants a war with someone...and he'll eventually get one.

Trump's relationship with Russia, ironically, is vital to handling Iran. They have more sway over Iran than anyone else.

My concern over alot of this is Russia/Putin forming a New World Order, with Russia, USA, NK, China at the top of the alliance. Are we beginning to step away from our alliance with Europe?

Not at all. But we need to stop pretending that a consolidated Europe exists (it doesn’t) or that their opinions carry as much weight as our own. The United States defends Europe. We have great alliances with most nations there. But Obama wanted to pretend there were 193 equal voices in the world. There’s not.

We are the good guys. We don’t enslave people or force them to join our country like other empires have. Doesn’t mean we’re perfect, and it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t receive criticism. But we saw what Germany did when in charge. We saw what the UK and France did. We saw what the Soviet Union did. We know what China does.

This isn’t a difficult comparison. Our alliances aren’t going anywhere. Who is Merkel going to abandon us for? Putin or Xi?

Europe hasn’t mattered since 1945. They’re the ones who fucked up the Middle East when France and the UK drew up arbitrary borders that created the nations we all know and love in the 1920s. Reminder: Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iran - didn’t exist until the Europeans decided they did. Just like we did with Israel.

If Trump and Xi can bring NK into the 21st century, go for it. If we can do the same with Iran, go for it. But European diplomacy and appeasement is shit. Their mantra has been to bury their heads in the sand since Chamberlain. How many examples do you need to demonstrate doing nothing and “hoping” make things worse.

Obama tried European style diplomacy. It resulted in Russia grabbing the Ukraine and Georgia. China building islands to expand their control, and the Middle East falling to chaos. Egypt, Libya, Syria and Iraq anyone?

We all want to live in Star Trek’s 24th century utopia. But some people are going to have to die to make that happen. Just like every other major advancement in human history. WW2 didn’t end over a nice steak dinner. It ended with the destruction of Berlin and two atom bombs dropped on Japan. Who’s better off now? Eastern Germany or Japan.

Has anyone considered the porn star’s lawyer is being paid by a bad actor?  Stormy isn’t paying him. And now he’s releasing documents he has no legal access to. Is this another Steele dossier being funded through political opponents?  Who’s paying the bills here?

If you believe Russia is attacking the US to undermine our elections, you have to consider the possibility they’re still doing so. I firmly believe the entire Steele dossier was Russian propaganda. But if you believe they’re still active, they’re going to be provoking the types who believe conspiracy theories and piss tapes and collusion certainly fit that mold. I think Avenatti should disclose who’s supplying him with his “intel” and paying his fees.
