Re: Top 10 Rock Frontmen
Well, here is an amazing frontman they forgot about. He's over 50 and killing it. I guess right now he's the best. I'll see him and his band next week.

Re: Top 10 Rock Frontmen
Also, at the risk of angering all Australians, I always feel Brian Johnston is disrespected out of the eagerness to honour the legacy of Bon Scott. Brian has fronted AC/DC for nearly 30 years, through 9 albums, including most of their biggest commercial hits. I'm not saying they weren't good without him, but damn he holds his own and is a huge part of their sound and their success.
I love Brian Johnson, but Bon was a better singer no question. Other day I was listening to my collection of favorite AC/DC tunes and I always find myself leaning more towards the earlier stuff with Bon compared to the later stuff with Brian. Back In Black is a great album, but still gotta lean towards Bon.
Not really a nostalgia issue either since their heyday (both with Bon and Brian) was before my time. I was born in 1985.
To me it's the same as preferring Appetite to everything else that came later. Stuff like TNT, Long Way To The Top, Whole Lotta Rosie, Dirty Deeds, Highway To Hell, If You Want Blood, High Voltage. Untouchable songs IMHO.
I will say this for Brian and the other members. The fact that they were able to find a very capable replacement for Bon is amazing. The band could have easily crashed and burned when Bon died. Instead they ended up bigger than ever with Back In Black.

Re: Top 10 Rock Frontmen
Axl in his prime no one even close
In terms of energy, he is at the top of the list. Vocal performance was pretty spotty, but when he was on vocally it was pretty damn untouchable. Like Ritz 88 or Paris 92. Fuck, even when his voice was shot (like Indiana 91), he was still capable of some incredible shit just through willpower and cocaine. Perfect Crime anyone?
