I think the other problem is Beta has a relationship with Axl beyond just professional. Whereas a proper manager would be hopefully pushing Axl for some kind of followup album or anything to shake them out of the post CD limbo they seem to be in. I don't see Beta doing that, if Axls happy collecting the cash and phoning in the live performances then so be it. It's not like she has a reputation to worry about, she's not going to be adding other artists to the books, so what if she never coaxes another note out of Axl, as long the Lebeis bank account stays nice and full. A proper manager has a reputation to consider, the guy who gets Axl Rose to release an album must be pretty fucking good and so the portfio and reputation grows.
As it stands if Axl doesn't want to release any music there's nobody in the inner circle going to put up a counter argument, whch is what a proper manager would offer.

Interesting point....
For example...i've never met Alan Niven..but I watched those web interviews he did and stuff...and he seems like a guy that would call your bullshit and break your balls if he was your manager, but in doing that, he would push you to confront things you don't want to do, give you some hard truths, and keep you on track. Sort of struck me that you'd end up in a love/hate with him - like he'd be a royal pain in the butt but at the end of the day your career both financially and probably artistically would be better off than if he wasn't pissing you off.
Beta on the other hand I think cares for axl in a family way, which is a beautiful thing in itself...but I do wonder what it does to the business side.

Precisely, I see her as just carrying out Axl's wishes. Great for Axl, finally a manager who does what he wants. I just fear if Axl fancies another 5 years of touring behind CD or just general hibernation she'll go along with it.

What has me concerned is this: The last thing Axl said about a new album is that he needs to sort out the label stuff before he's in the right "headspace" to start writiing. He has another album, there's no need to write. And he does struggle in this area, which tells me he wants to go back to the drawing board for some songs. That's frightening.

He was way more opaque than "start writing".
Fact is, the poor old bastard may just be living, working and looking like he is because he had to hand over the reigns of GNR to his "Mom" so he could keep the only "family" he has known from walking out.
Unless he is a total retard he must see that Team Brazil are crap, but they work at a level just barely capable enough to keep the money coming in to keep him and his "family" living in luxury.

Lebeis added that she characterizes Rose as "more than a son to me," and that after Katsis' departure, "I told [Rose] if he hires another manager, I quit." -src
I quit on my "son" if he hires a professional to handle his business affairs. To me, the whole trip Beta was on in that interview is just
