Re: Favorite Gnr Song From Each Album
I have to be in a positive feeling towards love to "get into" Sweet Child. It's a song so overplayed and beat into the ground by everyone else other than GN'R than I just don't like associate myself with it. It might be their cheesiest effort from that period.
I really don't care too much about the lyrics. To me it's just cool to hear the musical talent on display. That song might be one of the best mixes they ever did. You can easily hear every band member's contributions and they all sound great.
Re: Favorite Gnr Song From Each Album
I'm bored too so I've compiled you guys answers into a list.
First thing I noticed is to just pick one favorite song from each album is fucking hard! Most of these I had to flip a coin on to avoid feeling guilty.
Rocket Queen (drew lots from Jungle, Nightrain, PC, SCOM and RQ)
One In A Million (coin on that and Crazy)
Coma (coin on that and DDM)
Estranged
Down On The Farm (drew lots from that and SIDHY, AIF, HOTD and IDCABY)
Catcher In The Rye (coin on that and TWAT)
The list according to GN'R Evo:
Appetite For Destruction
Rocket Queen 8
Welcome To The Jungle 5
Sweet Child O Mine 4
Nightrain 4
Mr Brownstone 2
It's So Easy 2
Paradise City 1
GN'R Lies
One In A Million 15
You're Crazy 7
Patience 2
Move To The City 2
Use Your Illusion I
Coma 14
November Rain 2
Double Talking Jive 2
Dead Horse 2
The Garden 2
Dust N Bones 2
Don't Cry 1
Don't Damn Me 1
Use Your Illusion II
Estranged 14
You Could Be Mine 5
Pretty Tied Up 2
Civil War 2
Breakdown 2
Locomotive 1
The Spaghetti Incident?
Down On The Farm 7
Ain't It Fun 6
Human Being 4
Black Leather 2
Hair Of The Dog 2

Chinese Democracy
There Was A Time 12
Madagascar 3
Better 3
Prostitute 2
Chinese Democracy 2

As you can see we can draw some interesting conclusions from this list.

Album(s) with the most favorites: UYI 1 and CD
Most even spread: AFD and TSI
Re: Favorite Gnr Song From Each Album
Interesting stuff. This thread is from 6 weeks ago and I immediately thought of the Top 10 GnR songs thread in the ex Guns section. Made wonder if my Top 10 list was consistent with my picks in this thread.
For the most part they were. The only songs from this list that conflicted with the ranking of my Top 10 list were November Rain and Dead Horse. I had picked Dead Horse as my favourite off UYI I in this thread but ranked November Rain as my 3rd all time favourite Gn'R song in the other thread. Dead Horse though was the only other UYI I song to crack my top 10 all time list so these two songs seem to flip based on my mood. However I will say in the overall scheme of things and based on ALL TIME I'd have to go with November Rain as my consistent favourite off UYI 1.
here's what I said of the two songs in the other thread and where I ranked them.
3. November Rain:
This charts fairly high on my list based on it's super nostalgia power. This song more than any Gn'R song takes me back to highschool. Not just school dances but everything. Back then it was THE song and again like SCOM the lyrics may be a tad soft but Slash's guitar solos are again the highlight and power the song. The outro to the song is the most unexpeced outro to any song ever in my opinion and it only added to the sheer grandness of the song. This song was in fact my favourite song of all time for years and years even after highschool. It's dropped a bit the last decade but still classic.9. Dead Horse:
In my opinion Gn'R's most classic rock sounding song. I love the way the intro kicks in and tempo of the song from there on out is great. Musically it's not anything special in the Gn'R catelogue, Axl's voice is good, lyrics are alright but the result is greater than the sum of the parts. It's just always been one of my very favourite Gn'R tunes.
