Shackler's out of the woodwork?? They played that at my show in Nashville........
Out of the woodwork may have been an exaggeration, but it was the first time played at these Vegas shows.
Shackler's is the 7th most played song off of CD. From www.setlist.fm

Yeah, I don't get it either. I understand not doing TWAT because of its difficulty, and even Riad. Maybe Prostitute too, although I didn't think it was that bad the last time they tried it. But the others, I just don't get why they don't play them more. As much as I love Chinese Democracy, I don't think any songs on the album are MUST plays. At least switch out Sorry, TIL, and SOD on occasion.
Last time they played the rest of the lot.

I really dig the little improv Axl does in ITW towards the end like, "If there's a remedy, I don't want it..." and the extended musical jam on it.
Prostitute seems to be the song he really has a hard time with live, even more so than TWAT.

Most younger kids i've met, no shit, have actually come up to me and said "I love Guns N' Roses. Shackler's Revenge is one of my favorite songs"
Yeah, it about floored me too.
Rock Band 2 REALLY connected that song to the youth. Such a SAD shame Chinese was rolled out the way it was.
I love Shackler's. It's also one of my favorite tracks on CD and a great song. It's on my list of favorite Guns songs. Absolute favorite is Nightrain hands down. I remember when I heard the song online around the time after RB2 came out and it was very interesting to my ears. Then after playing the song on the game and listening to it without doing it, I loved it. I wanted to know who played those epic solos and instruments and that eventually led to my search on why Chinese took so long to come out. Which lead me here eventually a few years after I bought the album.

I got that impression as well after watching footage of the Japan shows in 09 of Axl trying to sing that song. He did great; but I knew he was struggling with all those vocal changes and high notes. Like you guys, I would love to hear ITW busted out again. One of the stronger tracks on CD. 
did a great job playing that song live.
One last thing on Shackler's, I love watching it being played live when it's shown on youtube. The band including 
kills it! Also I can only sing that song on Medium difficulty on RB2.
