Re: best band? MeWise vs Supa

basically, i wanted my band to be comprised of people who could put on a fun rock show that i would like to attend on a nice evening out.

songwriting-wise i think i have a great group of people with freddie mercury, tori amos and izzy; also i think tom morello and les claypool can bring some funk and jazz into this line-up, which would go well with all the others in the line-up.

technique-wise i think tom and les claypool are awesome at their respective instruments and that could make a good base for writing melodies. maybe travis is not the greatest drummer out there but i picked him because he puts on a show behind the drums.

as far as lyrics go i think freddie and tori can stand against anyone that's put against them.

in conclusion, like i said, i think it's a fun band with people who have great stage presence and are entertaining on their own too, not just as a part of a band.

thanks for reading and for voting, no matter what band you choose.

Supaplex. Mercury fronting the band had me, then my deep seated hatred for Geddy Lee was the final nail in MWM's coffin.

Personally if I would do this again, I would of gone with David Bowie as a utility. No love for G.Lee?

Without a doubt, supaplex album. King Mercury and Iz in the same band? Are you kidding?

I'm in, all the way.

I can imagine supa's band being in a Praxis style project. No offense mewise, but I see ZERO chemistry potential in your lineup. Hagar on vocals your biggest weakness. Dont want to start another Sammy vs Cornell fight, but I'm not even talking about his voice. The guy is a shitty songwriter period. When your best VH song is Finish What Ya Started and you're entering a band of this magnitude, its all downhill from there. Nielsen and
Barrett together? Cant picture it. The styles don't compliment each other. Phil Collins the strongest member of your band but you seem to have him in a limited role. Ditch Sammy and put Phil in his spot and it changes the dynamic of your band completely. Beck makes little sense in this band, no offense. I'm a fan but his slightly unconventional style doesn't fit here.

Mercury and Amos is a fucking brilliant combo and the Morello/Stradlin thing is almost identical to what I envision Bucket/Justine doing.

Supa gets my vote.

I personally can't see Freddie and Tom Morello in the same band to begin with. They don't go together in my opinion. Sammy was a tough pick for me to choose as vocalist. My original options was choosing Bowie or Brandon Flowers from The Killers on vocals or use Bowie as a utility and use Beck as a last minute option. Wanted to use this band to try and experiment with the possibilities. I'm not sure how Beck makes little sense because the dude has tried so many styles from hip hop, psychedelic sounds, blue grass, heavy rock, synthesizer melodic songs, and other types. As for Phil Collins he is one of my favorite singers and a great front man no question; but his drumming is amazing too. I could see him in either the position of drummer, backing vocals, front man or utility.

I agree it's hard to picture Mercury with that style of guitarist, but Stradlin has the potential to keep him grounded. Stradlin's songwriting ability is very underrated as well.

Mercury with Amos is a game changer. The band would likely revolve around those two.

I love Collins. Definitely should have been utility. His vocals, songwriting, and drumming should have been the main selling point of your band but mainly emphasized his drumming.

Went with 'Plex... The pure wild groove and funk of Claypool and Morello sold it for me.

Hell, if I was given a second utility or a way to change my band up abit, I probably would of gone with that concept. Great idea!
