Can't believe the Vikings are in the position they are in

We just beat a Top 3 team in the NFL and AP had a minimal effect on the game. Now we come home and it's a win and you're in situation.

Vikings Packers game was moved up to 4:25 e.t. for next week, was originally at 1:00 e.t.

Other News:

Seahawks look unstoppable now, and have obliterated a great 49ers team

Bears lived up to their status quo and have crumbled since a 7-1 start, but theyre still not out of the playoff race quite yet

Injuries and no running game have proven lethal to the Steelers season

Thanks to that impressive Vikings win, the Pats still have an outside shot at a bye in the playoffs.  In fact they could finish anywhere from 1-4 in the AFC.  But if they win and Houston loses at Indy, they get the 2 seed at the very least.  Tough call on that Indy/Houston game for next week.  On the one hand, Indy is locked in to the 5 seed, so they don't really stand anything to gain from winning the game.  While Houston has a lot to gain, win and they get a bye, lose and they may not.  BUT, Chuck Pagano is slated to return to the Colts sidelines after battling cancer all year, so you'd have to think that would be an emotional lift.  And they're at home.  So it'll be interesting to see how that one plays out.

The Pats/Dolphins game was also flexed to 4:25, so by that time the outcome of the Colts/Texans will deem how important that game really is.  If the Texans win, Pats may choose to rest some starters.  If they lose, they could go all out for that bye.  Should be fun.

Talk about Black Monday. YIKES!

Fired coaches:

Romeo Crennell - Chiefs
Norv Turner - Chargers
Andy Reid - Eagles
Luvie Smith - Bears
Chan Gailey - Bills
Ken Wissenhunt - Cardinals
Pat Shumer - Browns

The Smith firing I don't get. 10-6 with a horrible front office making terrible decisions. I think he would be a great fit with The Bills. They've got a good defense he can work with and all he needs is to draft a good QB and another big WR.

The offense was bad and the team tapered off after a 7-1 start.  He has never had an offense rank higher than 23rd in his Chicago years.  I think he gets hired in Cleveland as I'm not sure Buffalo will pay out the cash for an established NFL coach.  I know SD won't as the Spanos are cheaper than Bud Adams.  Smith has already been contacted by 4 teams already.  I think the new Cleveland owner would want to make a high profile hire.  Not really sure about the Bills being a good defense, they had problems with against the run and probably need LB and S along with their QB and WR issues.  I figure one of the QB's goes in the top 5 and another one might go before Buffalo's pick at #8.

Andy Reid is supposedly going to interview in Arizona.  I'm slightly surprised at that one since the Bidwells are another member of the cheap NFL owner group and they have to pay a lot for an established guy like Reid.  Well that and I'd assume that Ray Horton would get the job after the Whiz got canned.  If Reid somehow gets the job, I bet Kolb is kept and they go OT with their #9 pick.

Eagles definitely going for an offensive mind to replace Reid.  The leaked list of candidates: Penn State coach Bill O’Brien, Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman, Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, and Oregon coach Chip Kelly.  Kelly I think is the favorite since I've read rumors that they were going to offer him a ton of cash.  Bill O' Brien is a slightly surprising name since I had assume he would stay at Penn State.  I take that back as Jason LaCanforna (never a reliable source) say that several teams are interested in Bill O' Brien as their head coach.

The "hot names" seem to be Broncos OC Mike McCoy and Falcons OC Dirk Koetter.

And I'm still upset that Munchak survived the firing squad and they only canned the team president.:flame:

And this one's for you misterid:  Jeff Ireland will be back with the Dolphins for next year.

I saw Munchak getting another chance.

Another name to add to that list: Mike Holmgrem. He says he wants to coach again. That might have an effect on those coaches hanging by a thread right now.

Reid shouldn't have control of personnel. Like Holmgrem, their good coaches, terible at personnel hires. If you remember, Seattle took that away from Mike and that's when they started getting good when he was coach. He was pretty horrible,IMO, as the head decision maker at Cleveland. Reid's downfall were his FA signings and also, even more devastating, were his coaching decisions, like making your O Line coach defensive coordinator. The Eagles never recoverd from that. It hink both those guys will have to give up some power to get another job, and I don't see that beig an easy sell.

I think Lovie is a god choice for Buffalo because, 1) They'll assign a OC for him, he won't make that decision. Plus, I'm pretty certain Buffalo's first pick will be a QB next year. Lovie could turn that defense around as the talent is there. He would be hands off the offense, unlike Chicago where he picked the OC and control that defense. 2) I think he'll come cheap to be remain a headcoach and not a DC.

And I think Bruce Arians did a stellar job this year and he'd be at the top of my head coaching list.

Bears-same shit, different year. Getting rid of Smith was a good start.  It's getting near time for a complete rebuild. As crazy as this sounds, its good they didn't make it to the playoffs because they would have got their asses kicked wild card weekend.

Seattle may go all the way. As already stated, they're near unstoppable. I'm hoping the Ravens can go in the AFC, but they're the Bears of the AFC so its unlikely.

I'm predicting a Seahawks-Broncos SB.

Looks like Reid is going to be the next coach for The Chiefs.

In other words, the Chiefs will continue to suck....
