Talking of our aims and strategy....
I've been struggling with do I form a band in a certain style where players obviously go together already, or do you make assumptions about players (eg: Bumblefoot can shred like a mofo so he'd be capable in a salsa band even though his current stuff isn't salsa...but he *could* do it), or do you go for random stuff to be experimental...eg form Metallica but with Pink as lead vocals or something...heheh....
I can't decide...so at the moment I'm still making it up depends on who gets drafted before me....one thing I'm going for is making my band full of watchable guys....even if it's a weird style...I want a certain amount of stage presence....which is why I picked Tommy Lee on drums....firstly I dig is drumming for hard rock stuff...it really works in the songs...but secondly he's a showman...and he's always fun at live gigs.

Yeah Layne was on my short list of front men as well.
I thought of an entire band first that was composed of one really big name (Allman) and then mostly people who I thought might not be chosen. Then I made short lists of back-up options in my head to make sure I could get people that would fit together in a somewhat similar way. But people's picks have been hard to anticipate so who knows what will happen to old plans.
