Re: Slash/Hollywood Walk of Fame (Slash speaks after)

Comments like this are so damn asinine it's not even funny. Charlie Sheen is a comedian. I don't give a flyng fuck who he made a joke about as long as it's funny.
Not to nitpick, but Charlie Sheen is NOT a comedian. He is an actor. He has starred in some comedic roles, but he is far from a comedian. I'd bet he didn't write the Axl joke himself even. He has had a few great acting performances, but for the large part he is famous for being a complete mess. Let's not gloss over that fact.

Let's be real... if Sheen's speaking at an event like this or at any event what do you expect from him? Doing a speech full of Shakespeare quotes or acting like a comedian? The latter. The guy is a born comedian, even if he did well in other types of movies.
Re: Slash/Hollywood Walk of Fame (Slash speaks after)
I see what you are saying...but It's not the ONLY reason he makes the paper.
That's because he's already famous for GNR's music.
If I go on stage at my local bar 2 hours late does it make the paper? If I become a recluse does it make the paper? If I go on an angry tirade at the airport will it be on TMZ?
Axl is the guy people love to hate, but he had to be worthy of attention in the first place.
For sure, but now it is the only reason he makes the paper. Nobody cares about anything else related to him (including his band), but they love the trainwreck aspect of him. Thus why I said what I said.
Re: Slash/Hollywood Walk of Fame (Slash speaks after)
Charlie Sheen has more talent as an actor/comedian in 2012 than Axl does as a singer/songwriter. His show has already been picked up for like 100 episodes or something. The guy makes a joke about Axl and people wanna dimish his popularity and his talent just because he's a bit crazy?
Axl in 2012 is popular for his past and for his antics. Sheen is popular for his recent professional accomplishments as well as his antics. One is "washed up" in the eyes of the public, the other is still very much a pop culture icon. That's just that way it IS
WINNING! Sorry guys, but at this point, I gotta go with Bono. Its 2012, and although both their careers started around(ish) the same time..
Sheen > Rose.
EDIT: And I swear this has NOTHING to do with him becoming my hero when the 2 porn stars and briefcase full of blow story broke.

Yeah but who will be winning in 2070?
They'll both be dead but I'd guess AFD/UYI will have a more lasting cultural impact than any of Sheen's TV shows.
Like the great musical works of the past, new people will come along and be inspired by those compositions and recordings. Don't think too many lives in the future will be changed by the re-runs of Sheen's TV shows.

I maintain my original thought on this; if I'm Slash, I pull Sheen aside after and say "Dude. Why'd you have to mention Axl? This is my deal man"
..and I still agree.

Re: Slash/Hollywood Walk of Fame (Slash speaks after)
Actually I do like music from that era..mostly blues and jazz..some of it's dated, some of it's still good, and much of it was foundational for more modern things I like...Slash for example.
Maybe Axl isn't mozart, but sheen sure isn't Shakespeare.
In the longer term scheme of things...I think Axl's life will have had far more impact on the world that Charlie's. IF you play the "if they'd never been born" game...I think Axl has the deeper impact on the future...even if right now Charlie is flavour of the month on TMZ.
