This is what I don't get.
Based on subsequent posts, you flip and flop around the issue of Myles' singing. You admit you don't like it either, then you wonder why people averse it so much they quit on the album.
Some people just focus on the vocals, and the lyrics, more than you do. To them, the frontman's the first in defining what they think about the song. None any different than you (I assume) feeling out the guitars on your first listen.
They hear Myles. You hear Slash.
They dislike Myles' nasal singing, in their words anyway, instead of him not being Axl. You're just pulling the Red into this discussion for no particular reason, as no-one is exactly comparing Myles to him.
Myles & Slash made an album, swell. Myles needs to face the music.
Jesus. I've only made a little Axl mention, cause it belonged to the topic. Reread the post, I haven't hurt him at all. No worries.
I see ne flip flop on the Myles subject. You collected my releated posts and it's clear that I have problems with his high nasal voice, but I don't think it'd make the whole album unlistenable or bad. This isn't some out-of-tune shit. It sounds bad, but only sometimes, based on the few songs I've heard. (The 'music guy' reference was pointed to buzz, who said that he hums the guitar parts and doesn't really care about the lyrics. Your argument about the vocals and music people only backs mine.)
I still don't understand how Myles can sound so bad for some that they write off the whole album. If any GN'R fan wants to listen it for the singer and not the guitarist, then they've lost focus. It's Slash's album. If you don't care about guitars, then it'll be a disappointment for you, probably. I'm still waiting for my copy, and based on the few songs I've heard, this album worth every penny.
Re: Slash and Myles Kennedy Respond To Vocal Criticisms
mate, is it.
the album's fucking cracker. gets better & better. Slash is outta sight.
sure myles is only adequate & the lyrics beyond dodgy, but fucking slash rips the earth a new asshole w/his playing on this.

It's a very good album. Faldor, you prefer babababulletheaaaad? Axlin12, snakepit 1 sold 1.5 million then Geffen pulled him off the road.

Re: Slash and Myles Kennedy Respond To Vocal Criticisms
I think the first two tracks are the only ones where myles has much of the tone people don't like.
I think the album is kinda like a gig...it warms up itself...gets better as it goes...
Can people post more specifically what they don't like. For example I think Carolina's vocals sound great!
