Dude.. how old are you? You really need to actually listen to their albums.
As for Slash, best hard rock record I have heard in a while. And Bad Rain is a sexy tune man. I'm with all those who dig it.
34 mate ill check it out
Re: Apocalyptic Love FAN reviews
This is a good album. It's very even and consistent, which I appreciate. The best songs to me are "Standing in the Sun", "Anastasia", "Not for Me", "Far and Away", "No More Heroes" and "Bad Rain". Slash's playing is great on this record. His ear-pleasing, unique and identifiable tone as well as his wonderful sense of melody are on full display here. I really do think Myles is a great talent and has great technical ability as a singer. However, as evidenced on "Hard & Fast", Myles' tone in his upper register is abrasive to my ears. I do enjoy his vocal tone that he frequently employs in his lower register (a great example is "Open Your Eyes" by Alter Bridge), but he obviously he does not always use that tone. His melodies are good for the most part, but I've never felt he's a great lyricist. The band however is fantastic and their cohesiveness with Slash is very clear and noticeable.
My biggest question now is, where does Slash go from here? He explored a variety of different genres and styles on his first record, and now he's returned to his comfort zone stylistically. How many times can he make this kind of record before the law of diminishing returns sets in for the audience? Of course, that point is different for different people, but after listening to this record, I couldn't help but think of Angus Young and AC/DC. At a certain point for me, there was a complete and utter disinterest in hearing a new record from AC/DC as I had such a strong gut instinct that was reinforced more and more over time that there would be little to no stylistic explorations on new records. I hope that listening experience I had with AC/DC does not hold for Slash.
Nonetheless, perhaps, making a stylistically varied first solo album allowed Slash to return to his roots or comfort zone with the results he did here. Here's hoping it keeps up.

Ali, when you step away from the confines of the legalese you are a fine descriptive writer. Actually, it's one of the fairest and well thought out reviews I've read anywhere. well done and thanks!
Like you, I question where Slash goes next.

It's been years I enjoyed any new album as much as I like Slash N' Co's new stuff. Pretty great, any day I don't have time to listen it, I miss it.

I'm the same, I'm increasing my running just to catch the whole album.
Myles has a keen ear for melody I must hand that to him.
I'd love an MTV Unplugged performance from Slash & Myles now, I think it would bring out some amazing sounds from the band.
Re: Apocalyptic Love FAN reviews
Contrary to the belief of some, as they've stated to me on various boards, I do not now nor have I ever "hated" Slash, whatever the hell that means. He is my favorite lead guitarist of all time and always will be. I just don't think he is an angel and Axl is the devil. I don't subscribe to that black and white belief that seems to be commonplace if not on these boards then in the general public at large. Slash may very well be much further towards the super-nice guy end of the spectrum than Axl, and Axl may very well be more towards the complete and utter dickhead end of the spectrum than Slash. But, I think the majority of us fall somewhere in the spectrum, and sometimes for me, where I fall in the spectrum depends on who you ask and/or what I'm going through at that particular time.
Frankly, if I cared to find beacons of virtue and morality to which I could look to and admire, it wouldn't be anyone from Guns N' Roses. I look to them in the various incarnations and solo projects for quality music and live performances, ultimately.
Anyway, sorry for the rant.
I just hope Slash doesn't stay within the confines of what style he does so exceptionally well because I think that while he does blues-based hard rock exceptionally well, it is not ALL he can do an do well.

This album is getting better and better. I don't skip shit. It just plays over and over now. AL-Shots Fired is a strong run on the album.
Re: Apocalyptic Love FAN reviews
This is knocking on the door of surpassing COntraband and CB is my fave album of the 21st century probably.
Every song as SG just said is awesome. I listen from 1-15.
Carolina is even amazing.
Myles has great melodies and hooks, his lyrics are good and Slash's guitar is on fire. Brent's drumming also is great and sounds like DRUMMING.
