They definitely get money from the old merch sales. They just signed the name over to Axl. Nothing else changed.
Then it's even more stupid. He talks the way he does about them, yet still hands money to them.
Maybe the old merch STILL makes him a higher profit with his 'cut', rather than him taking a full cut of the new merch?
Either way, those old GN'R shirts are DATED. I never really liked the album cover ones, other than the rare Illusion II shirt. But some of the Illusion shirts were cool, like the reversible tye-dye, the Axl skull w/ tattered American flag, there was a similar Slash one, and I for whatever reason LOVED that 1993 Skin N' Bones promo shirt with all of the 1992-93 band, and the Guns N' Roses in blood.
I've never been a fan at all of the new era shirts, other than the most recent ones. I've got a blue 2006 NA tour that kinda harkens back to UYI II that's cool, but plain.
The newest shirts they had on the 2011-12 NA tour were PRETTY COOL. The coolest since the old days. It's a damn shame they don't have all of them in the merch site.
It also would be nice for some of the more diehards if they added some exclusive DJ, Ron, Tommy & Dizzy shirts at least.

There was a problem with Merck selling new designs with Slash and shit. That didn't go down well.
But yeah, the royalites for everything to do with the old lineup are still the same, like they always were.
I bet the old line up merch brings in a nice chunk of change to Axl and the other guys. You're not going to see that disappear anytime soon.
I actually have quite a few pieces from the 2006 tour with the logo Slash sued Axl over, and Axl halted using.
Believe it or not, even though I rarely wear it, I was ALWAYS complemented on that 2006 denim jacket that the fans hated, yet most casual people loved the hell out of it. It's the only new GN'R clothing i've ever gotten compliments on, other than a black leather biker AFD jacket.

Sweet shirt man, my fave of new merch. I guess if anything you could take some comfort in, is the material didn't exactly hold up. From day one that I bought it, the glitter on it seemed to have a tendency to flake off (maybe it was meant to?).
Anyways, within a few years, one of the Chinese flowers on the bottom by the pistol was starting to rub off, despite occasional use. Might give it a vintage look, but ultimately it was kinda disappointing. I had to retire it, just to try to preserve it.

That sucks man! Hope you are able to get some better merch soon once the store starts selling better shirts. I'm surprised DJ hasn't gotten his production company to produce some stuff for the store or he could bring over some of his ideas to the shirt and other merch designs.
