Re: Adele's '21' Beats Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' in U.K. Sales
I think the issue Russ is that 21 appeals to everyone so much, that you've even got the older generation digging it. I can easily see an 83 year old getting that for a gift, and loving the hell out of it.

Adele Ties With Saturday Night Fever And Purple Rain In USA
by Paul Cashmere on June 13, 2012
Adele ‘21’ has returned to the number one spot on the American chart this week equalling her weeks at number one with the Saturday Night Fever and Purple Rain soundtracks.
‘21’ clocked up another 74,000 sales in the USA this week, putting it slightly ahead of Alan Jackson’s ‘Thirty Miles West’ debut on HitsDailyDouble.com figures. (The position may change when SoundScan releases its figures later today).
Adele was given a boost after NBC premiere her special hosted by Matt Lauer last week.
‘21’ has now spent 24 weeks at number one in America. Her next target is Fleetwood Mac ‘Rumours’, Harry Belefonte ‘Calypso’ and the South Pacific soundtrack with 31 weeks on top of the Billboard chart.

I was introduced to Adele by a friend who heard "Rolling in the Deep" and thought it reminded her of Axl so figured I'd like it.
Now I want Axl to cover it

This.
I was in a record store last night and the "it's going to sell more than Purple Rain" subject came up. I said "Look. I really did Adele and I like the '21' album. BUT there ain't NO WAY it's NEAR as good as Purple Rain. People need to get their heads together and stop re-buying this fucking thing!"
**the "there ain't NO WAY" was said Smokey & The Bandit style**
Awesomeness.
Karma for a Buford T-ism.
I'm sure Adele is saying this right now...
"It's only a minor complication. Nothing's gonna stop me from catching that big piece of dragon dump. And when I do... i'm gonna marinate his walnuts."
In reference to Prince
P.S.
I agree about Purple Rain as well
