Re: If (Myles joined VR...)
Quick Question I thought of while Watching Slash Made in Stoke Blu Ray *Phenomenal BTW, looks like u are right there*
Anyhow
IF, Myles did join VR and VR proceeded to play 75 percent old GNR songs combined with best of VR and some new material from a new VR album
How well would a tour do?
Re: If (Myles joined VR...)
I don't think a revamped VR would do all that well. Nowhere near what it did the first time around. The interest just isn't there anymore, and they've dragged their feet for too long. (Note - all of that rings true for GNR at the moment too)
I wouldn't mind seeing it, after getting a glimpse at what they could do a few weeks back, but I don't think it'd be a smashing success.

Re: If (Myles joined VR...)
I assume from the way Slash has bailed on VR to do 2 solo projects, (reminiscent of how snakepit formed when GNR didn't work anymore), and from the fact that VR demos are showing up on Slash's solo record, that there's a problem within VR that would prohibit it reforming.
Assuming that gets solved - I think it could be very successful.
All you need to look at is the Slash solo shows. They're sustaining Slash. He's playing his greatest hits and some new stuff - and the audience is eating it up. Add in the VR guys and Slash's backline goes from simply functional and cool to absolute top notch rock royalty.
The new VR could then play the VR back cataloge (that Myles sings VERY well) , the whole of the GNR back catalogue (that Myles is capable of singing even if he doesn't deliver vintage Axl class on it), and of course, any new songs the piublic has grown to enjoy from the solo records would be being delivered with the full power of Duff/Matt. Just Imagine if the whole self-titled Album and the Apocalyptic Love were done with Matt/Duff as well.
One of the problems with the old VR was that although it kicked ass, due to scott's style and the general need of the guys to legitimise their sound in the modern era - it had an overly trendy modrock approach to songwriting - but Slash has abandoned that and gone back to his old GNR styles with the solo efforts and in his live shows.
So if VR did as you say - and played mostly GNR - mixed with the best of the VR/Slash catalogue....and of course new stuff written with myles...IMO it would be the strongest band on the planet...

Re: If (Myles joined VR...)
I like that Slash has a balanced set list that show his strengths on guitar. His band is pretty good. I'm not a big fan of Myles' voice but he does Slither, Sweet Child, RQ, and Paradise justice. I see the reason why they don't normally play Jungle. It doesn't fit Myles' range and he has a particular groove to most of the songs. Of course one of my favorite songs on Slash's solo record were Doctor Alibi, Back to Cali, By The Sword, and a few others. The thing is that as of right now the only way to see November Rain, Estranged and those kind of songs is to see the current GNR which isn't an issue.

Completely 100% THIS.
It's done, stick a fork in it. And even if it was brought back, it'd be a wet fart. They'd tour modestly, but I don't even know if they could be a headliner, short of a small theater tour.
I think both Slash & Duff have used left overs, and I think ultimately unless Slash goes out of his way to patch things up with Axl, the only card in the mix is playing up another GN'R-ish reunion, sans Axl.
Another gun-themed name, with Myles, Slash, Gilby, Duff, Matt, and special guest appearences by Steven & Izzy, who record and perform full-time.
Problem is, Slash has so much "Axl authority" over his solo act, that I highly doubt Slash has any interest in going back to another band project, short sucking it up for a GN'R reunion.
I think ALL of these guys are DONE with a real band concept. Even Adler's band is called "ADLER".

Re: If (Myles joined VR...)
Agree. Continuing VR with a Scott replacement just doesn't make sense. But I see some chance for them, I mean Slash, Duff and Matt starting another band in a few years with a different singer and another rhythm guitarist. VR had a style, but I don't think there would be a huge demand for a second run with a different guy singin'. But a more rock and roll band could do well. Later.
Anyway, I'm much more happy with Slash playing his ass off with his solo band, than a restricted Slash in VR. I prefer his solo songs, too, so I don't miss VR at all. Even Loaded is much better than VR was.

Re: If (Myles joined VR...)
I think VR was a great band...but slash was restricted...and I too prefer his solo stuff...although I think that's also due to his sobriety at the moment partially too...playing much better than before....but I do miss Duff/Matt...they have a sound together...like the start of Big Machine....sounds amazing...
