Re: Slash Apocalytipic Love album/singles Chart positions
tejastech08 wrote:Sounds about right. Nickelback or Shinedown would be proud of that song. It fits right in with the type of garbage on rock radio these days. Only good part of it is Slash's solo.
Nah, Shinedown & Nickleback have much better songs than You're A Lie.
Ouch.

not to say I was right..
You're a Lie is at number 19 on Active Rock chart... but gained 210 more plays
It jumped from 18 to 11 on Mainstream Rock chart
Approaching CD chart position.
WOOOOOOOOOOO
I hope you know that charts are completely buyable and not spontaneous due to public demand.
Record company support (and also the artist's effort on interviews, private gigs, promo at all) is REALLY important, which Chinese Democracy did NOT have and I'm sure Slash's label is supporting him.
Of course Axl didn't help Chinese promotion but neither did Universal.

Slash doesn't have a label, even his first solo album was paid by himself.

Re: Slash Apocalytipic Love album/singles Chart positions
Slash has a distributor.
if u wanna compare that to Jimmy Iovine and Universal fucking records....just please don't.
Yeah. You don't have as much support as an indy artist, whatever good terms you are on with your distributor, as a high profile big record company band, whatever bad terms you are on with them.
Also, if Slash could pay for his record(s), all damned costs, then Axl could have paid for some MORE promo, after spending 14 millions from the Universal/Geffen budget to the recordings. Just sayin'. People too often picture Axl as a victim.
Re: Slash Apocalytipic Love album/singles Chart positions
I'm not seeing Axl as a victim...
I think most of Chinese Democracy failure is due to his diva acting upon the release.
Ok, they took the album from your hands before the artwork was ready?
Either come publicly and fight 'em like a man (a la Tom Petty and the 9,98 album where he would name the album 8,98 and put it in the cover- that ended up being Damn The Torpedoes, sold at 8,98) OR get on board and promote your art, that is, YOUR MUSIC!
And I'm pretty happy that Slash can do well... It's amazing when you put it into perspective how bad CD went on US.
