I'd def support that and not expect a full blown tour/reunion.
Yeah...I think Axl's way of celebrating the past and honouring it is to let old people do a cameo with his current line up - like duff did and like robin did.
Realistically though - if the old band play a set then it will establish that it's possible. That's going to make acceptance of the new band at it's lowest possible point. Say they get up and do night train and it really kicks ass....how's it going to go down the month after when it's DJ not slash....the whole fan base would be about it, along with the entire media and so on.
If (however irrationally) Axl consider's slash a cancer in that the desire for his return eats away at whatever else he might do these days, any peformance with slash will magnify that effect 1000 fold.
I just dont see how the public would accept a "we're going this once and going back to status quo" - it's actually easier for people to buy the "we're not going to do it at all cos we're assholes"
Here's some mind games they could play if we turn it into a team sport and divorced from the human side: As someone said earlier - slash should challange axl to an immediate performance from the stage. Then Axl could invite slash back to GNR from the stage - and we'd see if Slash would accept if he had to throw away his current solo project 2 months out from the launch.:laugh::haha:

people are gonna accept the fact that "HOLY SHIT, they aren't gonna reunite" and move away from that
my opinion anyway.
If you are right it would be interesting. Maybe disarm the whole mystique of a reunion. Tempting also as Axl to do a show and really phone it in with Slash then do a gig with his new band and kick ass and try and make the point that way.
I personaly think if a reunion would happen it could be a bit out from here. Slash needs 1.5 years to complete this album cycle before he has the choice of GNR/VR reunions or Solo3. We know Axl still has a second album worth of stuff and always thought of it as a double album - and "same bat time next year" or whatever the gag was is probably almost due in the GNR dimension hhaha...
So i think they meet up at the RRHOF and discover that each man isn't the devil...then there's a doorway for random collaborations in the future.
Personally I'd like to see shit like Axl guest on a Slash album or Slash play coma with modern GNR as a cameo one day...if only they'd end the hatred.
