Re: LA Times Interview With Axl
Why Chris Pitman? Seriously what does he bring to the table? He's usless in my opinion. Gn'R doesn't need that dude.
the rest of the lineup is pretty sweet though.
Chris is "mother goose".
Chris actually does alot more than he gets credit for. All of those effects live, and the backing stuff (think Madagascar) are coming from his hands.
Frankly Chris is the "Teddy Zig Zag" of 2011. He's there to back Dizzy, and the band by bringing "studio tech" shit to a live setting.
That's all
Hell, Queen had guys like that in and around the band for years... they just didn't call them "band member". Alot of rock bands do it, in order to replicate the songs live.
That's what Chris Pitman does. I don't see Axl dropping him. He doesn't really get into the way, and Axl and GN'R are going to NEED a guy like that in-studio anyways, as well as Pitman being on the road with them since 2001...
He's here to stay. Even if he was let go, he would be replaced by someone else.

I understand that but all that backing stuff is pretty usless in my opinion. None of what he does adds to Gn'R. Anyone can hit play on a MLK sample and really thats' the only thing that's overly noticeable. The rest is just beeps, pops, whirls, and just glitter on something that doesn't need it.
you dont' need a guy like Pitman in studio because nothing he does adds to the song in my opinion. That's just my opinion but his contributions are usless really. Any producer could do what he does pretty much.
You want a guy like Chris Pitman in the band/studio get a guy like Brian Eno or something. At least he'd make Gn'R's sound organic and not artificial.
I'm positive half the shit I hate on CD is Chris Pitman. I don't mean to hate on the guy but.... I just dont' see the point nor do I appreciate what he brings. .

Re: LA Times Interview With Axl
it would be nice to get the entire one and a half hours written down. the excerpt was actually a good read, which i didn`t expect to be honest. it sounds kind of refreshing after all those dell james/ email interviews he did in the last years, especially that 2009 "slash is a cancer" stuff.
Because, really, you can get guys from the "Illusion" thing, but the only thing that would make it would be Duff and Slash, really. It’s nothing against Izzy and it’s nothing against Steven, or anything like that. Steven may want it, but these guys I’m working with right now, they work really hard and it’s hard work. I’ve toured with the other guys and I’ve also seen what they’ve done since, and I just know the difficulties.
what does he try to say here? he`d do a reunion with only slash and duff, because izzy and adler are unreliable? or that a reunion of only him, slash and duff would still be considered the reunion people are waiting for, even if izzy and steven are missing?
I don’t have an excitement to work with people that joined in the "Illusion" time. There’s behind the scenes that was really, really difficult there with different ones. So it’s not really even a full reunion.
who is he talking about now? matt, gilby and dizzy? dizzy not, that`s quite certain... or is he talking about all members, including slash, duff, izzy and steven? does he refer to 85-93 as the "illusion time"??
I think he means that Izzy wouldn't want to do a reunion tour and Steven couldn't do it. not more, not less.
The Illusion times - he always hold distance from that albums, I remember him saying that 'when I'm listening this, I hear a band dying'. I think he was in a really bad place emotionally and mentally during that tour (when not? ), and he doesn't want to have people around who remind him those days. He'd better take off the SS pictures from his wall though, she was his demon.
Re: LA Times Interview With Axl
I gotta admit Pitman didn't really add much on CD either.
Axl originally wanted Moby... boy that would've been interesting.
Prostitute's outro would've been this and it would've been 15 minutes long,
Axl, Buckethead and Moby would have been fucking mind blowing. I would loved to heard that.
