Actually, I remember when Izzy quit, they carried on and still kicked ass wink

How much new material did they create in the studio without him? Zilch. A covers album doesn't count. And Chinese Democracy is an Axl Rose solo project with help from a bunch of talented employees.

They actually created a lot of material without him. A whole album's worth at least smile

Sorry, CD is still GN'R.

Problem is, GN'R carried on past TSI?.

The thing is the band didn't replace memebers gradually over a  period of albums. They all left at the same time. Guns N' Roses for the most part ceased to exist untill a new album came out in 2008 and by that time it was a completely different band, even different than the one that emerged for a split second in 2002 and the album they released in 2008 has NOTHING to do with their induction.

What people have to understand is the legacy of the CD era means fuck all in this case.

It's like argueing Brett Favre should be inducted into the HOF based on his play with the Minnesota Vikings. It's asinine. It's only the kind of thing that you'd hear from a diehard fan who really refuses to step back and look at it objectively and ask themselevs why is this band being inducted? Is it because of Chinese Democracy and all that this era has accomplished? And if you're honest with yourself the answer is an emphatic NO! And given the fact all the original members were gone 10 years prior to the release of CD nobody from the CD era should be inducted because it was no longer even remotely close to the same band

Nobody outside Gn'R fan forum walls thinks the CD era guys should be inducted and not even all the fans inside these walls think it so the opinion that CD era guys should get in is really nothing more than fans being fanatical.  Erase everything prior to 1995. Does this era merrit induction into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame? No.  So why are people clamouring for CD era guys to get it?

I'm really trying to udnerstand it because this idea that CD era guys desrve to be inducted is one fo the most ridiculous ideas I've ever heard on a  Guns N' Roses board. It really is.

If U2's career had gone exactly the way Guns N' Roses career went after 1993 and I was here telling everyone I think the new era U2 should be inducted along with the original lineup you'd think I was fucking insane.

They did not quit at the same time. Not true, dude. Duff was okay to carry on without Slash and they were all okay to carry on without Steven and Izzy. Robin was in the band with Duff and Matt.

CD era is part of GN'R, like it or not. I'm not even talking about the HOF. I'm not clamoring for any of the new guys to get in. I really haven't seen anyone on this board do that. You made that up, too.

If it's the original 5, then okay. If they induct the current band, okay too.

Does anyone think someone like Tommy especially, would want to be apart of the car crash even if all era's were inducted anyway?

Seriously dude stop with the semantics. Saying Robin was in Gn'R with Duff & Matt  is a joke. You know as well as anyone that Guns N' Roses went into hiding and then remerged without any of the originals left including Duff and Matt.  So in that sense YES they all left at the same time. Nobody stuck around for a new tour, nobody stuck around and recorded a new album.  If Duff was ok  to carry on then why didn't he? Kind of a flaw in what you're saying isn't there.  Guns N' Roses did TSI then somehow managed to record and  release Sympathy for the Devil and that was IT. the band ceased to exist as we know it and then remerged 4/5 years later with Axl as the only member left... oh and Dizzy but whatever.

Maybe "clamouring" is the wrong word but "arguing in favor of it" is not.  Like I said use my U2 example and you know for a fact you'd think I was fucking crazy if I was suggesting the new era has every right to be inducted

To be honest I think all the guys in the band now have the common sense to recognize this has nothing to dow ith them. I thik they'll do whatever they have to, to be diplomatic and keep their current jobs in Gn'R but I'd be willing to guess they probably all hope to  god that they don't have to do anything. I'd venture to say they probably don't even want to attend based on the shit storm that the whole thing is gonna be.

Izzy is cool and all...but no way did GNR die with him.

I saw GNR in 1993, outdoors - sun and rain, about 75,000 people near close to a riot because there hadn't been proper toilets at the venue and drinks were insane prices, they announce on the PA that Axl is on the way in a chopper so to relax...it gets dark...Slash near blew out the ears of the front 20 rows with the volume of his rig, Jungle, Brownstone and I thought I was going to die...Axl gets on the mike starts talking about how he knows it's the fault of our media not us...but we should remember he was born with the name rose not bailey....godfather solo....all the UYI/AFD classics....show ends at an insane time of night...and 75,000 people go line up for the 5 busses the promoter has removing people from the venue that is 30km out of town at a racetrack in the middle of nowhere...get home in the AM nearly dead from the elements...ears blown to shit...but saw slash and Axl in their prime busting out shit that's never been repeated by any other band...

Sorry but izzy or not..you'll never convice me that shit wasn't GNR smile
